City Attorney <br /> advised the Council that a Use Permit would be needed to operate the races. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that the association be informed that the Council <br /> is not in favor of hard -top racing at the rodeo grounds, seconded by Council- <br /> man Stout and carried. Police Captain Faulstich informed the Council that the <br /> Police Department is against the races from a safety standpoint. The letter <br /> should also state that the Police Department considers it to be a traffic hazard. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS: COUNCILMEN AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED THAT THE COUNCIL TAKE WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO GET THE <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION TO REZONE THE CORNER.OF ELWOOD AND BREWSTER BACK TO R -1, seconded <br /> by Councilman Jones and carried. City Attorney was instructed to prepare the <br /> Resolution initiating the rezoning. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED THAT THE NECESSARY MONEY BE EXPENDED FROM PUBLIC FUNDS TO PRE- <br /> PARE CHARTER FOR PUBLIC CONVENIENCE. City Clerk advised the Council that 100 copies <br /> of the Charter have been prepared and approximately 15 or 16 have been passed out <br /> to City Officials. The balance are available to the public at a suggested price <br /> of $1.00 a copy. Councilman Granger so moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br /> carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED THAT A LETTER BE WRITTEN TO THE U. S. GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS REQUEST- <br /> ING INFORMATION AS TQ FUTURE PLANS REGARDING THE LOCAL POST OFFICE. The City would <br /> like to know their plans, if any, to assist the City in making long range studies. <br /> Motion seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY REVIEW THE CHARTER TO SEE IF THE <br /> PURCHASING AGENT CANNOT BE STRICTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PURCHASE OF AUTOMOBILES <br /> 1 <br /> WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF BRINGING THE MATTER BEFORE THE COUNCIL. Mayor advised <br /> that there is a committee.appointed to meet with the City Attorney to study the <br /> matter and report to the council. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT STATED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL SERVICE CLUBS INTERESTED IN BRINGING <br /> LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL INTO REDWOOD CITY. He moved that the matter of•Little <br /> League Baseball be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission for considera- <br /> tion and recommendation back to the Council before the Council takes any further <br /> steps. If allowed to play in Redwood City, they would like eventually to make <br /> collections at the games. The Service Clubs will sponsor the leagues. Council- <br /> man Granger seconded the motion of Councilman Stout which carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED INFORMATION REGARDING ROSE AVENUE FOR TWO GENTLEMEN WHO <br /> ATTENDED THIS MEETING FOR SUCH INFORMATION. City Engineer stated that the cost <br /> of extending the street to Page Street would be more than the cost of the improve- <br /> ment. Councilman Granger moved that this be placed on the agenda and that the Real <br /> Estate Committee be asked_to meet regarding this matter, seconded by Councilman <br /> Stout and carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY PRESENTED RESOLUTION INITIATING THE REZONING OF AREA FROM EL CAMINO TO <br /> CENTER, TO LINDEN, TO WOODSIDE ROAD TO C- 1 -H -F, providing that a business cannot <br /> be operated in a home without obtaining a Use Permit.
