City Engineer stated that a rough estimate shows that the entire project will <br /> cost $26,000.00. The portion directly adjacent to the Wholesale Grocers will be $9,000.00. <br /> It was understood City Engineer would proceed with the area adjacent to the Wholesale Gro- <br /> cers at this time. . <br /> II ATTORNEY LARROUY REQUEST ELIMINATION AND WAIVER OF DEED RESTRICTIONS, LOT 15, BLOCK 1, HOMESTEAD <br /> . ADDITION NO. 2. Letter of Mr. Larrouy representing Mr. & Mrs. McDowel was read requesting <br /> that restriction placed on deed to the effect that no building be allowed, be waived and <br /> removed. Lot in question was purchased at a tax sale several years ago and subsequently <br /> a building permit was erroneously issued. The present owners were appraised of the res- <br /> triction when they attempted to sell the property. Councilman Granger moved that the <br /> restriction be removed, and that the City Attorney be authorized to take such action <br /> necessary, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> L. W. ELY, PRESIDENT OF AUTO DEALERS ASSOCIATION, REQUEST PERMISSION TO HOLD PARADE OF NEW <br /> CARS ON SATURDAY, APRIL 16th. This Parade will consist of about thirty to thirty -five <br /> cars and the association will contact Police Department and comply with any regulations <br /> necessary. Councilman Spillers moved that permission be granted, seconded by Councilman <br /> Stout and carried. <br /> F. J. FLANNERY APPEAL FOR EXTENSION SIDEWALK REPAIR NOTICE. Letter from Mr. Flannery in which <br /> he appealed for extension due to the fadt that a boat is being constructed in his garage <br /> and it will be completed in four months, was read. This involves one hundred feet of side- <br /> walk. Councilman Spillers moved denial of extension as recommended by City Engineer, sec- <br /> onded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> PORT MANAGER MLCARL SUGGESTED MEETING OF COUNCIL AND PORT COMMISSIONERS TO STUDY YACHT HARBOR <br /> AREA. Letter from the Port Manager was read. The Mayor and Council will notify the Port <br /> Commission as to time of meeting. <br /> MILITARY ORDER OF PURPLE HEART REQUEST PERMIT TO SHOW EXHIBIT IN CITY. Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved that permit be granted, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> COUNTY HEALTH ENGINEER RE: COUNTY ORDINANCE REGULATING WELL DRILLING. Councilman Jones moved <br /> that this be considered at a study meeting, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: DEPARTMENT HEADS AND COUNCILMEN <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER REPORT ON REVIEW OF THE CHARTER. He stated that City Attorney Currie, Council- <br /> man Jones and himself had reviewed the Charter and recommend that a change in Ordinance <br /> 299 to the effect that the City Council will not be asked to make decisions on purchases <br /> of less than $2,000.00. Any purchase over that amount will require Council action. The <br /> proposed change will be in Section 1, Ordinance 299. So moved by Councilman Royer, second- <br /> ed by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER REPORTED THAT THE PLANNING COMMISSION, CITY ATTORNEY, COUNCILMAN SPILLERS AND <br /> HIMSELF HAVE MET REGARDING THE SIGN ORDINANCE AND IT WILL BE READY FOR RECOMMENDATION <br /> IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER MOVED TEAT THE CITY ATTORNEY BE AUTHORIZED TO CONTACT DISTRICT ATTORNEY AND <br /> WORK UP A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH HIM FOR A FINAL APPROVAL OR DENIAL BY THE COUNCIL, <br /> REGARDING THE HAWES PARK SWITCH. <br /> 1. School to get five acre site at a fair market price; an appraisal <br /> to be secured. <br /> 2. The City to get a ninety year lease on the property at Goodwin and <br /> Hoover with the City to have control of this property to be used for <br /> recreational purposes. <br />
