Councilman Stout moved that <br /> City Clerk be authori to accept the deed for sewer easement Gordon Street, seconded by <br /> Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER OFFERED RESOLUTION 1848 AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF GAS TAX MEMO OF AGREEMENT, <br /> MAJOR CITY STREETS, and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried on roll <br /> call. Councilman Britschgi noted absent. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS OFFERED RESOLUTION 1849 TRANSFERRING $500.00 FROM UNALLOCATED CAPITAL OUT- <br /> LAY FOR RECREATION PLAY EQUIPMENT. and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br /> carried on roll call. Councilman Britschgi noted absent. This was on 1955 Budget. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS: COUNCILMEN AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY ANNEX TIE RESERVOIR AREA AT TIE END OF BREWSTER <br /> stating that this property is costing the City approximately $100.00 per year in taxes <br /> to the County. Councilman Spillers moved that the City Engineer, City Manager and City <br /> Attorney investigate the possibility of bringing this into the City and report back to <br /> the Council, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS SUGGESTED THE PURCHASE OF THE WATER SYSTEM IN FRIENDLY ACRES, stating <br /> that it would save money for the City and help the people in the area by lowering the <br /> water and garbage rates. Councilman Spillers moved that this be referred to the City <br /> Manager for a complete up to date report, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS SUGGESTED THAT COUNCIL BE FORESIGHTED AND JOIN WITH OTHER CITIES IN AN <br /> EFFORT TO WIDEN OLD COUNTY ROAD INTO A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY TO IMPROVE THE CONGESTION ON EL <br /> CAMINO REAL AND BAYSHORE HIGHWAY. It was pointed out that this road starts in San Mateo <br /> and dead -ends at Whipple Avenue in this City. After further discussion, Councilman Gran - <br /> er moved the matter of a third highway be referred to the proper g S 3t er authorities such as P P <br /> Peninsula League for consideration, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS CALLED ATTENTION TO SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CROSSING THE EL CAMINO <br /> BETWEEN JAMES AND BROADWAY, especially during the hours from 11:30 A.M. and 1 P.M. <br /> The Police Department was requested to watch this situation closely. Captain Faulstich <br /> advised he would take the matter up with the Student Council. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REQUESTED THAT THE MINUTES OF MARCH 21, 1955, BE CHANGED TO SHOW THAT <br /> THE CITY GOT A 99 YEAR LEASE ON THE PROPERTY AT GOODWIN AND HOOVER INSTEAD OF GOODWIN <br /> AND HAWES. This was a report by Councilman Royer regarding the Hawes Park switch. City <br /> Clerk will see that change is made. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER OFFERED RESOLUTION 1850 and moved adoption, rezoning Lot 1, Block 21, Red- <br /> wood Highlands from R -2 to R -1, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br /> Councilman Britschgi noted absent. This will be referred to the Planning Commission for <br /> further action. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT CIVIL DEFENSE PROGRAM SHOULD BE ACTIVATED IN REDWOOD CITY <br /> INITIATING AIR RAID WARDENS. Someone should be appointed or salaried part -time to take <br /> care of this matter. The committee on Civil Defense will meet on Thursday and after this <br /> meeting they will bring in a recommendation for further study. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER MOVED THAT WE REAFFIRM OUR AGREEMENT WITH MR. WOOD TO PAY THE COST OF PAVING <br /> HETCH HETCHY AREA, approximately $5,500.00, if the project of improving Poplar and Ebener <br /> is approved, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />
