IS <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY ENGINEER'S OFFICE BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK OVERTIME IN <br /> ORDER TO COMPLETE SEVERAL PROJECTS NOW IN PROGRESS. Councilman Stout moved that this mat- <br /> ter be referred to the Personnel Board for consideration, seconded by Councilman Granger <br /> and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED INFORMATION OF CITY CLERK DODGE REGARDING THE EXTENSION OF FRANKLIN <br /> II STREET. Assistant City Attorney advised the Council that a letter was received from the <br /> Southern Pacific requesting further information and copy of proposed Ordinance. Matter is <br /> being followed and will be expedited all possible. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER INFORMED THE COUNCIL THAT LEAGUE MEETINGS FROM MARCH 31st, 1955, will be of <br /> more interest and urged attendance. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED, "WHO'S AFRAID OF THE GARAGE ON MAIN STREET ? ", referring to the Michel <br /> building on Main Street which should be abated. The Fire Chief informed the Council that <br /> the building will be inspected in due time, the department concentrating on buildings with <br /> occupants first. Councilman Jones informed the Council that when the building was origin- <br /> ally posted, action was limited to old ordinance which has since been amended, and which <br /> will now support an abatement. Councilman Jones then moved that the Michel Building be <br /> inspected, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMEND REZONE PINE AND STAMBAUGH AREA FROM R -3 TO R -4 (OWN INITIATIVE). <br /> Letter from Planning Commission read recommending the rezoning of Lots 1, 2, 3, t 9, 10, <br /> 11, 12, Block 1 Eastern Addition. Councilman Spillers moved a <br /> 5 � P approval of the recommenda- <br /> tion, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. Fire Chief Lodi recommended that this <br /> be placed in Fire Zone No. 2. The necessary ordinance will be prepared for presentation. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMEND STOP SIGNS ON BROADWAY AT FIFTH AVENUE. Letter from <br /> City Manager recommending the stop signs was read. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION <br /> 1855 and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMEND ESTABLISH TWO HOUR PARKING ZONE VICINITY NEW SAFEWAY <br /> STORE, ARGUELLO AND BREWSTER. Letter from City Manager recommending the stop signs was <br /> read. Councilman Spillers moved approval of recommendation, seconded by.Councilman Royer. <br /> Councilman Britschgi asked Captain Faulstich if this was a sound move, and was informed <br /> by Captain Faulstich that this has been in consideration for some time and the building of <br /> the new Safeway Store made it more of a necessity. Motion carried. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION RE: HEIGHT OF FENCES ON CORNER LOTS. Letter from <br /> City Manager read, requesting that consideration be given to the following points: <br /> 1. That six foot fences be allowed on the street side of a corner lot along <br /> the street side of the property line to within thirty feet of the front <br /> property line or corner. <br /> 2. That three foot fences be allowed on the street side of a corner lot along <br /> the street side of the property line where there is reversed frontage or <br /> where there is a lot facing the side street. <br /> After discussion regarding the height of fences Councilman Granger moved that this be re- <br /> ferred to the Planning Commission for consideration, seconded by Councilman Royer and <br /> II carried. <br /> A. SPINAS REQUEST FOR PERMIT TO DISPLAY "PUBLIC SCHOOL WEEK" BANNER ON BROADWAY. Letter from <br /> Mr. Spinas read in which he stated that he will comply with any regulations which govern <br /> such banners. Councilman Royer moved that the permit be granted, seconded by Councilman <br /> Stout. After some discussion regarding the insurance aspect of the matter, the motion <br /> carried with stipulation that rules and regulations be complied with. <br />
