Mr. Coykendall addressed the Council advising that Mr. DePaoli was unable to <br /> attend the meeting but was still opposed to the rezoning. Councilman Britschgi, if voting <br /> in favor of the introduction of the ordinance, reserved the right to vote against the ad- <br /> option of the ordinance if there was no indication of the kind of building to be erected. <br /> Mrs. Herman stated that both the Planning Commission and Building Inspector would approve <br /> the type of architecture. Councilman Britschgi moved that public hearing be closed, sec- <br /> onded by Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Attorney <br /> be instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance to rezone Lot 2, Block 17, to R -3 setting <br /> forth the stipulations which Mr. Dell'-Ergo has mentioned, seconded by Councilman Stout. <br /> Councilman Granger also stated that he would withhold his opinion on the final adoption <br /> of the ordinance until after the public hearing. Motion carried. <br /> REPORTS <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT ON PARKING DISTRICT #1. City Attorney presented to the Council RESOLUTION <br /> OF INTENTION #1864 to make changes and modifications in Parking District #1 including addi- <br /> tional area, continuing culvert across Broadway approximately 115 feet and calling for hear- <br /> ing on May 31, 1955. Offered by Councilman Jones, who moved adoption, seconded by Council- <br /> man Granger and carried on roll call, Councilman Spillers noted absent. RESOLUTION #1865 <br /> approving preliminary plans and calling for bids on culvert was offered by Councilman Royer <br /> who moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried on roll call, Councilman Spil- <br /> lers noted absent. <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT ON L. SIFERS APPLICATION FOR BUILDING PERMIT. Letter from City Manager Rol - <br /> ison read, in which he recommended the acquisition of Lots 33 and 34, Block 4, Jefferson <br /> Acres. Councilman Britschgi stated that Hetch - Hetchy right of way intersects these lots <br /> and should Myrtle Street be paved, City would have to absorb the cost inasmuch as Hetch- <br /> Hetchy cannot be assessed. He then moved that the City Attorney be authorized to take <br /> the necessary steps, and hire an appraiser if necessary for acquisition of the property, <br /> and report back at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Stout. City Attorney stated <br /> that the applicant should be advised that the Council is interested in acquiring the pro- <br /> perty. Mr. Sifers, 3151 Middlefield Road, appeared requesting that the Council look at the <br /> property themselves, stating that he is willing that the City acquire the property. Motion <br /> carried. City Attorney will report in two weeks on balance of property on Myrtle Street. <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT AND E: M. G. WOOD RECOMMEND TION REQUEST FOR WATER CONNECTION Letter from <br /> A Q <br /> San Mateo County Department of Public Health and Welfare, Mr. Eugene Mason Howell, Public <br /> Health Engineer, was read in which he explained the policy of the County regarding infor- <br /> mation given applicants for building permit in the Emerald Lake area. Also read was letter <br /> of H. L. Winter, Water Superintendent, stating that in correspondence with Building and <br /> Health Departments of San Mateo County he was informed that no assurance of a building per- <br /> mit had been given to Mr. and Mrs. Wood for their property on Mohican Way in Emerald Lake <br /> area. They had been informed that any well drilling would be entirely their own respon- <br /> sibility, and there was no assurance to them that they could obtain water service from the <br /> Redwood City system. Councilman Granger moved that the recommendation of the City Manager <br /> be concurred with and that Councilman Spillers be supplied with a copy of the letter from <br />
