Councilman Granger ad-
vised the Council that the only reason for the request for extension is that Mr. Estes
intends to remodel the front section of his house. During the construction there will be
trucks passing back and forth over the sidewalks, and Councilman Granger recommended that
Mr. Estes be given 6o days to complete the job and if at that time the job is not completed
further consideration be given, seconded by Councilman Spillers. City Attorney advised
the Council that the matter should be continued until a fixed date in July. Councilman
Granger agreed to continuing the matter to July llth. Motion carried.
CITY MANAGER RE: PROPOSED SPECIAL CENSUS. Letter from City Manager was read indicating conser-
vative population gain of 4000 would increase the City's combined gas tax and motor vehicle
license fees by $29,400.00 per year. The census would cost approximately $4500.00. Finan-
cially, it would appear wise to request special census at this time. Councilman Royer
moved that the report be approved, and that the City Manager be instructed to make arrange-
ments for a special census, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried.
CITY ENGINEER REPORT ON PROPOSED EXTENSION OF BREEZE PLACE (DUKE). City Engineer advised the
Council that progress is being made toward acquisition of the Duke property, the 20 foot
widening on Canyon Road for a distance of about 350 feet, or better, and the extension of
of Breeze Place, part of the cost to be paid from Gas Tax Funds. City Engineer recommended
that the City Attorney be authorized to negotiate with Mr. Duke and Mr. Emerick for the
acquisition of the necessary property. Councilman Spillers so moved, seconded by Council-
man Stout. City Attorney advised the Council that the acquisition of the Duke property
should be conditioned upon being able to secure the 20 foot widening on the Emerick proper-
ty. Motion carried. City Attorney suggested that the map that has been prepared by the
engineer be furnished to the Planning Commission with reference to the proposed subdivision
II of property owned by Mr. Emerick in to four parcels which could be conditioned upon arriv-
ing at a satisfactory agreement with Mr. Duke. So moved by Councilman Britschgi, seconded
by Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman Granger suggested that the Council authorize
the transfer of funds to the Real Estate Account and that the City Attorney be authorized
to negotiate for the acquisition of the Duke property.
