, -4
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS: COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS
COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY REVIEW THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE which
apparently is not working out satisfactorily. The City Engineer advised the Council
that notices are mailed out, permits obtained for the work, and if the 30 day limit
expires, subsequent notices are sent. If the work is still not done, the City will
order the work done and charge the property owner. City Engineer advised that a time
limit has been placed on the permits. Councilman Royer moved that the City Attorney
review the ordinance and bring back a recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi
and carried.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER BROUGHT UP THE MATTER OF LIGHTING IN FRONT OF THE POST OFFICE and stated
that something should be done to improve conditions at once. He was advised that this
was to be included in the Parking Lot project. Councilman Granger moved that this im-
provement be done now. Councilman Royer stated he would second the motion on the condi-
tion that the light be installed upon completion of the street work. This was accepted
by Councilman Granger. Motion carried.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY CLERK CONTACT THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO RE: THE
STREET LIGHTING IN THE VICINITY OF THE PRESENT COURT HOUSE AND THE NEW BUILDING.
This should be done so that both buildings will be lighted by the time the new build-
ing is dedicated. City Clerk will report back at the next Council meeting, May 16th.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER INTRODUCED DISCUSSION RE: CLEAN -UP WEEK and suggested that this be taken
up again this year with City Trucks picking up rubbish that is placed on the parking
strips by the property owner. After much discussion it was decided the clean -up pro-
gram will be at the expense and work of the property owner. Fire Chief Lodi stated
the present Fire Department activity is a reminder to the people that their premises
should be kept clean and orderly as a fire prevention program.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT THE PROPERTY OF MRS. GASKEY, near the railroad tracks,
BE CLEANED UP BY THE CITY AND USED AS A PARKING AREA, thus eliminating the unsightly
appearance of the property. Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be in-
structed to contact Mrs. Gaskey to see what arrangements can be made, and report back
in two weeks. Councilman Royer seconded the motion which carried.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE ANNUAL BUDGET WILL BE SUBMITTED TO
THE COUNCIL. TAVERNIER concerning annexation of Lower Emerald Lake area, seconded by
Councilman Britschgi and carried. This to be reported on at next regular meeting.
COUNCILMAN ROYER MOVED THAT A LETTER BE SENT BY THE CITY CLERK TO THE ENGINEERS PREPARING
CANYON ROAD PLANS requesting early completion, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and
carried.
CITY ATTORNEY INFORMED THE COUNCIL THAT HE HAS DISCUSSED WITH MR. SIFERS REGARDING THE PURCHASE
OF LOTS 3L. AND 35 WHICH ARE ADJACENT TO COMMUNITY PARK. Mr. Sifers stated that if he
could consummate the deal this week he will sell for $1900.00. This property is 100 x
162 and Hetch - Hetchy runs across it; it is probably a one building site. City Attorney
suggested that the money be transferred and referred to the Real Estate Committee for
approval of the price and consummation of the purchase if everything is in order.
