FOSTER & KLEISER ON -SITE SERVICE STATION SIGN at Avondale and El Camino Real. There was <br /> much discussion regarding the issuance of the Use Permits by the Planning Commission. Mr. <br /> II Quinn, station manager, appeared before the Council stating that the permit was issued for <br /> one year, and it is for their advertising campaign. He submitted a picture of the sign to <br /> be installed. After further discussion regarding the desirability and location of the <br /> sign, the City Attorney ruled that the permit can be appealed anytime within 30 days of <br /> issuance of the permit. <br /> 2. MR. M. LERCHITZ FOR 30 UNIT MOTEL on El Camino Real. (Boicelli property). <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED THAT THE RECREATION DIRECTOR AND PARK SUPERINTENDENT <br /> BE INVITED TO ALL FUTURE MEETINGS PERTAINING TO PARKS AND RECREATION. Councilman Spillers <br /> suggested that the City Manager be instructed to contact someone from the Park and Recrea- <br /> tion Commission in an attempt to have someone attend any meetings pertaining to subjects <br /> of interest to that Commission. Councilman Britschgi moved that the Recreation Director <br /> and /or Park Superintendent be instructed to attend all such meetings, seconded by Council- <br /> man Granger and carried. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED ALLOWING HIGHLANDS LITTLE LEAGUE TO MAKE COLLECTIONS <br /> AT THEIR SOFTBALL GAMES. Councilman Royer moved approval of the recommendation, seconded <br /> by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED OFFERING SUMMER SWIMMING PROGRAM TO RETARDED CHILDREN <br /> OF SAN MATEO COUNTY. A letter was read from Park and Recreation Commission recommending <br /> that this program be offered to retarded children of Redwood City. The Commission felt <br /> that the mentally retarded children of Redwood City should have the first opportunity <br /> to sign up for this program and the remaining vacancies to be filled by others in the Co- <br /> unty. They also recommended that the program be scheduled according to the Recreation <br /> Director's time and instructors available. Councilman Spillers moved that the recommen- <br /> dation be approved, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> G. WAGSTAFFE, REPRESENTING JOHN M. AND JESSIE B. RIDGWAY, REQUESTING REMOVAL OF RESTRICTIONS <br /> BROADWAY NO. 3. A letter was received from Mr. Wagstaffe requesting cancellation of a <br /> certain contract dated September 19, 195 providing for the installation of public im- <br /> provements at the expense of the property owners which was signed by the then property <br /> owners of Broadway No. 3 and the City. In 1953 and in 1954 the property owners in ques- <br /> tion joined in an assessment district for the installation of improvements adjacent to the <br /> affected properties in Broadway No. 3. (Marshall Street Improvements - Series 1 953 -59). <br /> He is attempting to eliminate this flaw in title in the sale of property in this area. <br /> Letter was referred to City Attorney and City Engineer Jain for report back in two weeks <br /> on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> A. G. FRANK RE: PARKING AREA IN PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1 with regard to proposed acquisition of <br /> a portion of his property for the off- street parking lot described on the map as Parcel <br /> #1 and Parcel #13 was referred to Council Parking District Committee on motion of Council- <br /> man Jones, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> A.
