City Engineer informed the Council that the State <br /> has not made any studies on Spruce Street. Councilman Granger moved that this be referred <br /> to Councilman Royer, City Engineer Jain, City Manager Rolison and City Attorney Currie for <br /> consideration and recommendation in 60 days. <br /> II CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REQUEST FOR FUNDS 1955-56 BUDGET. Letter from Chamber of Commerce regarding <br /> the 1955 -56 budget was referred to the Chamber of Commerce Committee (Councilmen Britschgi <br /> and Royer) for consideration. <br /> MISSION TRAILS REQUEST USUAL APPROPRIATION OF $150.00 on 1955 -56 Budget was referred to the <br /> Chamber of Commerce Committee for consideration. <br /> MRS. GERI HILL RE: SPONSORSHIP OF PLANE IN WOMEN'S TRANSCONTINENTAL AIR RACE. On motion of <br /> Councilman Granger this matter was turned over to the Chamber of Commerce Committee, second- <br /> ed by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER MENTIONED THE FACT THAT STAFFORD PARK IS BEING USED AS A HARDBALL FIELD and <br /> requested information as to what can be done. He was informed that the park is posted <br /> stating there is to be no ball playing there. The City Manager will notify the Recreation <br /> Director that there will be no ball playing at Stafford Park. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED THAT THE TRAFFIC SITUATION ON CENTER STREET BE REFERRED TO THE <br /> TRAFFIC STUDY COMMITTEE. This was referred. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER WAS INFORMED THAT THE SIGN ORDINANCE WOULD BE BROUGHT UP BEFORE THE COUNCIL <br /> IN THREE WEEKS. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER BROUGHT UP THE MATTER OF IMPROVEMENTS ON VALOTA ROAD. This has been under <br /> consideration for several years and he feels that something should be done now. There is <br /> not enough gas tax funds to carry the improvements and the gas tax funds are spoken for <br /> in the present and next budget and it seems that there will be no money for these improve- <br /> ments. Councilman Granger moved that the people in the area be informed that the City <br /> would welcome a petition for improvements there and upon petition the City will act. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER MOVED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY BE AUTHORIZED TO NEGOTIATE FOR EASEMENT AUTHORIZA- <br /> TION ON CARLTON STREET not to exceed $500.00 to come out of funds set up by Mr. McCarthy, <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT REQUESTED A STUDY MEETING TO DISCUSS YOUTH CENTER. Mayor Herkner set study <br /> meetinf for May 25th, Wednesday at 8:00 P. M. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT MENTIONED THE FENCE AT THE CITY DUMP WAS TO BE COMPLETED AND WAS INFORMED THAT <br /> THIS IS IN THE BUDGET FOR THE COMING FISCAL YEAR. <br /> COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REQUESTED THAT THE CITY ENGINEER DO SOMETHING ABOUT PAVING HARRISON AVENUE <br /> WHERE IT COMES INTO CLEVELAND. This has been a hazard for some time and before an accident <br /> occurs something should be done. City Engineer will correct this situation. <br /> II COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REPORTED THAT THE MATTER OF A LOCATION FOR WIDOW'S, INC. BUILDING WILL BE <br /> BROUGHT UP AT THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REQUESTED INFORMATION REGARDING THE WEEDS ON HETCH-HETCHY. City Engineer <br /> advised that it is undecided who will do the work as it seems that it might be City pro- <br /> perty. Councilman Spillers moved that the City Manager go ahead and get this work done, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> MAYOR HERKNER WILL ATTEND THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING. <br />
