tfi
e, of course, did not know if we were or were not opposed, but said that as we had
b•ught the property for a home we would not like to be fenced in on either side with
a •usiness. Although we had bought so close to El Camino it was for convenience in
co 'uting to work and easy access to transportation, as many other people have done
who ave homes just off El Camino. However, after talking it over, and as we wished
to h.lp Mrs. Morgan if possible, we signed the application for the rear 37 feet of
the t••ee lots, feeling that would serve her purpose and also protect us.
On March 23, the day following your meeting, Mrs. Morgan brought us a copy of
the pape reporting on your meeting of the night before. As we were talking she
mention• that some friends of hers were awaiting the final action on the rezoning
of the re: property as they might buy the property next door and have a beauty
shop at th; rear. That is the Hinman property, and it is up for sale. For the
first time e began to realize just what could happen to our home, and that we had
agreed to an application that could permit a place of business almost in our own
back yard.
We were ve y upset and visited the office of the Planning Commission and also
the City Clerk • get as much information as possible about the overall picture of
all applications oricerning the rezoning of this area. We learned of the applica-
tion #1830 before our second public hearing on April 12. We would like to oppose
that application. 's the other application concerning the 37 feet has already
passed, we plan to ••pose it at the meeting of the City Council on April 18. We
had no understanding or realization of just what this rezoning would mean in the
beginning, but now realize that it would be many years before this section would
be strictly business aid thus increase property values; in the meantime, if it is
allowed to become semi- '•usiness, it is no longer a desirable residential neighbor-
hood, nor would it increase the value of our property.
The purpose of this -tter is to give you the new developments in this matter,
and to go on record as opp•sing these applications. We are aware that this might
be called poor planning, buy is was also called poor planning on the application
that was approved at your la t meeting regarding the three lots. We have worked
hard to acquire our home and :re anxious to protect it as such, and to permit any
business or businesses to come into the neighborhood ruins it for residential
purposes.
Sincerely yours,
Arcadio Agbayani
Thelma Agbayani
Councilman Spillers moved that public herring be closed, seconded by Councilman Stout
and carried.
