7.16 <br /> <br />7.15.1.3 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from an <br /> accredited medical doctor for each such day of sick leave <br /> requested. <br /> <br />7.15.2 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to sick leave, the <br /> appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the employee's earned <br /> vacation balance, and a reasonable oppommity to utilize this vacation <br /> credit shall be provided within the City's existing practices in order to <br /> avoid loss of vacation credit. <br /> <br />Holidays <br /> <br />Regular full-time employees shall be entitled to take all authorized holidays at full <br />pay, not to exceed ten (10) hours, for any one (1) day, provided they are in a pay <br />status ten (10) hours, as the case may be, on both their regularly scheduled <br />workdays immediately preceding and following the holiday; and provided further <br />that original probationary employees shall be eligible for the following holidays <br />one (1) through ten (10) only at the straight-time rate of pay during the first six (6) <br />months of service with the City and for the floating holidays eleven (11) only <br />upon completion of twelve (12) months' service with the City. <br /> <br />The following shall be paid holidays to all employees who are covered by this <br />MOU: <br /> <br />1. New Year's Day <br />2. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (observed on the third Monday in January) <br />3. Washington's Birthday(Observed on the third Monday in February) <br />4. Memorial Day (Observed on the last Monday in May) <br />5. Independence Day <br />6. Labor Day (Observed on the first Monday in September) <br />7. Veterans Day (Observed November 11) <br />8. Thanksgiving Day <br />9. The Day after Thanksgiving <br /> 10. Christmas Day <br /> 11. Three administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed <br /> local holidays. <br /> <br />In the event any of the holidays specified above occurs while an employee is on <br />vacation or sick leave, the holiday shall not be charged as vacation or sick leave. <br /> <br />A holiday that falls on Saturday shall be celebrated on Friday and a holiday that <br />falls on Sunday shall be celebrated on Monday. <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br /> <br />
