Kennedy/Jenks Consultants <br /> <br />Mr. Chu Chang <br />City of Redwood City <br />25 March 2003 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Task 3- Abbott Laboratories Water Demand Evaluation <br /> <br />As we discussed on 12 March 2003, Abbott Laboratories will provide the following information <br />for the following research and development laboratory facilities: <br /> <br />Facilities: <br /> <br /> a. Existing Perclose facility <br /> <br /> b. Up to 3 other similar facilities comparable in square footage and usage to the <br /> proposed Redwood City facility <br /> <br />Information to be provided: <br /> <br /> · Square footage of facility <br /> · Breakdown of facility by function and square footage <br /> · Number of meters serving facility and description of meter locations/areas served <br /> · High-water use activities within facility <br /> · Monthly water meter data by year with sub-totals and totals as well as water demand per <br /> square foot, office or other unit calculations <br /> · Expansions during time period of meter data <br /> · Estimated occupancy or occupancy assumptions during period of meter data <br /> ,, Other standards measures of water demand estimation commonly used in research and <br /> development facilities including reference name, date, and appropriate excerpts. <br /> · Other information that could be useful in interpreting the meter data <br /> <br />Sub-task 3-1 -Prepare Water Demand Data/Methodology Matrix <br /> <br />This task will include preparation of a matrix that compares the five other cities/water agencies <br />methods for estimating water demand for the research and development laboratory facilities <br />with the data provided by Abbott Laboratories and the method used by the City. <br /> <br /> Sub-Task 3-2 - Prepare Water Demand Comparison Technical Memorandum <br /> This task includes a preparation of a tech memo that will document data that were obtained, the <br /> sources, as well as a brief summary that compares the various data/methodology sources. The <br /> Tech Memo will be prepared in draft form for review by the City and by Abbott Laboratories. <br /> Comments on the draft Tech Memo will be solicited in a meeting identified in Task 3-3. It is <br /> assumed that two sets of written comments one each from the City and Abbott Laboratories will <br /> be received. If Abbott Laboratories has multiple outside reviews of the draft Tech Memo, it is <br /> assumed that all of the comments will be consolidated into a single document. Once the City <br /> and Abbott Laboratories' comments are received, they will be incorporated and a final tech <br /> memo will be prepared. <br /> <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
