6.1.C. - Page 2 <br />• Brewster Avenue Pedestrian Improvements Installation of pedestrian <br />improvements on Brewster Avenue between El Camino Real and Fulton Street, <br />and on Broadway between Brewster Avenue and El Camino Real. The project <br />includes installation of 21 curb bulb -outs with ADA ramps at existing school <br />crosswalks on Brewster Avenue at Arch Street, Broadway, Clinton Street, Duane <br />Street, Elwood Street, and Fulton Street, and on Broadway at Arch Street. The <br />curb bulb -outs and ADA ramps will increase safety and convenience for <br />pedestrians commuting between residential areas and public /private schools, <br />Downtown Redwood City employers, and the Sequoia Caltrain station, and for <br />recreational pedestrians walking to downtown entertainment, dining, and <br />shopping. Redwood City requested grant funding of $734,000 (80% of project <br />cost), and will provide matching funds of $91,750 (10 %) from the Traffic Impact <br />Fee Fund and $91,750 (10 %) from the Gas Tax Construction Fund. <br />• Hudson Street Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements Installation of pedestrian <br />and bicycle improvements on Hudson Street between Whipple Road and <br />Woodside Road (length of —1.7 miles). Pedestrian signals with countdown <br />indicators and push buttons will be installed at the Jefferson Avenue and <br />Woodside Road intersections. Curb bulb -outs and ADA ramps for school <br />crosswalks will be installed at intersections with Roosevelt Avenue, Oak Avenue, <br />Redwood Avenue, and near the local YMCA at the intersection with Palm <br />Avenue. Sharrow pavement markings, "Share the Road" signage, and bike route <br />signage will be installed to designate the area as a Class III bike route. Bike <br />detectors and pavement markings will be installed at the Jefferson Avenue and <br />Woodside Road signalized intersections. The project will improve bicycle and <br />pedestrian safety and access for commute and recreational pedestrians and <br />bicyclists, improving connections between and among residential areas, public <br />and private schools, employers, transit routes on Woodside Road, recreational <br />areas (Sequoia YMCA and Red Morton Park), and retail, services and <br />restaurants on Woodside Road. Redwood City requested grant funding of <br />$532,640 (80% of project cost), and will provide matching funds of $66,580 <br />(10 %) from the Traffic Impact Fee Fund and $66,580 (10 %) from the Gas Tax <br />Construction Fund. <br />• Brewster Avenue Bicycle Improvements Installation of bicycle facilities on <br />Brewster Avenue between Broadway and Alameda de las Pulgas, and on <br />Broadway between Brewster Avenue and El Camino Real (length of —1.1 miles). <br />Includes installation of new Class II bike lanes on Brewster Avenue between <br />Broadway and Elwood Street by restriping from four vehicle lanes to three lanes, <br />and on Broadway between Brewster Avenue and Arch Street by realigning <br />vehicle lanes. Sharrow pavement markings, "Share the Road" signage, and bike <br />route signage will be installed on Brewster Avenue between Elwood Street and <br />Alameda de las Pulgas to designate the area as a Class III bike route. Bike <br />detectors and pavement markings will be installed at the Brewster /Broadway <br />signalized intersection. The project will improve access for commute and <br />recreational bicyclists, improving connections between and among residential, <br />school, and downtown locations. Redwood City requested grant funding of <br />$107,640 (70% of project cost), and will provide matching funds of $23,065 <br />
