7.A. - Page 2 <br />Service Financial Assistance (HSFA). As the city continues to reduce its general fund <br />budget and manage an on -going deficit, the City Council has expressed a desire to <br />review how other cities fund non - profit human service agencies and also present <br />information on funding options for council consideration. Attachment 4 to this report <br />provide the results of a survey of San Mateo County cities as it relates to funding of <br />HSFA programs with general fund dollars. The attachment also provides background <br />information on Redwood City's contributions to HSFA from the general fund in previous <br />fiscal years. Staff will be presenting information on this topic and seeking direction on <br />future years' funding from the City Council during the Council meeting. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council could ask staff to continue to analyze options as they relate to the <br />BCCs and HSFA funding and return with additional recommendations. <br />The City Council could determine to not change the structure of the BCCs and /or <br />maintain current funding levels of the HSFA. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Savings from BCC restructuring is estimated to save as much as $150,000 per year. <br />Depending on Council direction, general fund savings on HSFA contributions can be $0 <br />to $212,800 per fiscal year. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />None <br />ROBERT B.
