6.1.13. - Page 33 <br />TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU) LOCAL 521 <br />reasonable time. <br />Procedure <br />A Notice of Intent to discharge, demote or suspend for two -one (9!) days or <br />more, must be served on the worker, the Union, and appropriate Steward, in <br />person or by certified mail prior to any disciplinary action becoming effective. <br />The Notice shall include: <br />a) A statement of the nature of the disciplinary action; <br />b) The effective date of the action; <br />c) A statement of the cause thereof; <br />d) A statement of the act or omissions upon which the causes are based; <br />e) A statement of the worker's right to respond to the charges, either orally or <br />in writing, prior the action becoming effective; and <br />f) A statement advising the worker of the right to Union representation. <br />Should the City proceed with any discharge, demotion, or suspension for two <br />one (2i) days or more, the worker shall be furnished the reasons for such action <br />in writing with a copy of such letter furnished to the Union and appropriate <br />Steward. <br />In the event a worker feels that the discharge, suspension of two (2) days or <br />more, or demotion is unjust, the Union shall have the right to appeal the case <br />through the Grievance Procedure. <br />ARTICLE 15 - PAY PRACTICES <br />15.1 Salary Plan <br />15.1.1 Effective the first full pay period that includes February 1, Salaries <br />will be increased by feu three percent ( : %). <br />Effective the first full pay period that includes February 1,28992013: Salaries <br />will be increased by four- p ercent (. %). <br />15.1.2 Initial appointments shall normally be made at the lowest step or rate of pay. <br />Upon approval of the City Manager, such appointments may be made at the <br />second or third step when justified upon consideration of the difficulty of locating <br />'w <br />b �Vt <br />
