Proiect Pedestrian Accessibiliri Imaacts

" Potential Impact: If constructed without a sidewalk along its Bair Island
Road frontage, the Project would contribute to and exacerbate the existing discontinuity
of pedestrian facilities along Bair Isiand !'oad and East Bayshore Road (Impa: t 7-8).
Mitigation: The Project shall construct a continuous pedestrian facilitr,
such as a sidewalk or a pedestrian path, along the entire length of the ProjecYs Bair
Island Road frontage (Mitigation 7-8).
Findings: This mitigation measure is feasible and would reduce the
impact described above to a less-than-significant level.
I. Bicvcle Accessibilitv Imaact
Potential Impact: Construction of the Project could result in insufficient
right-of-way width along Bair Island Road to accommodate bicycle facilities preliminarily
planned for inclusion in the San Francisco Bay Trail extension (Impact 7-9).
Mitigation: The Project shall dedicate adequate right-of-way along Bair
Isiand Road to accommodate future bicycle facilities (Mitigation 7-9).
Findings: This mitigation measure is feasible and would reduce the
impact described above to a less-than-significant level.
 J. Proiect Emeraencv Access Imaact
Potential Impact: During an emergency evacuation of the Bair Island
Road area with the Project at full occupancy, traffic volumes on Bair Island Road, East
Bayshore Road, and Whipple Avenue could be expected to exceed roadway capacfties,
as further described in Mitigation 7-'10.
Mitigation: The extension of Blomquist Street over Redwood Creek to
the East Bayshore Road/Bair Island Road intersection is currently planned by the City
and partialiy funded. The project applicant shall pay a minimum of 20% of its fair share
contribution to the costs of the improvement prior to any final subdivision map approval.
The remainder of the applicanYs fair share contribution shall be paid prior to final
subdivision approval for the map which includes the 500"' residential unit within the
Project (Mitigation 7-10).
Findings: The extension of Blomquist described in Mitigation 7-10 would
reduce the impact described above to a less-than-significant level.
K. Proiect-Related Secondarv Impact of the Blomauist Extension on the
Blomauist StreeUMapie Street Intersection
Potential Impact: Completion of the Blomquist Extension described in
_ Mitigation 7-10 is expected to contribute to increased traffic congestion at the Blomquist
zasozns2a2 11
n85aRo.ao
052004
