<br /> AMENDMENT. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, that
<br /> with regard to Condition 3 that only one reserve f�re engine be
<br /> utilized on May 20 and 21, but that two engines be in use on May 22

<br /> Mr. Fales advised for the record that the City will not have adequate
<br /> police personnel available to enforce a condition prohibiting viewing
<br /> from the traffic lanes on the bridge
<br /> , Peter Gruchala, 573 Marlin Court, President of the Redwood Shores
<br /> Homeowners Association; advised that the Board members of RSHA had
<br /> been polled and it has been determined that they support Mobil and
<br /> believe the planned fire protection is excessive for May 20 and 21
<br /> Mr. Gruchala stated that Board members do not believe the crowd will
<br /> be larger than that experienced for other Redwood Shores events on
<br /> Friday and Saturday, but would like to have the two engines on Sunday
<br /> City Manager Fales requested for the recerd that the Redwood Shores
<br /> Homeowners Association place a letter on file with the City Clerk
<br /> stating their recommendation as transmitted by their President, the
<br /> letter to be used as a reference point in the event anything unfor-
<br /> tunate happens in Redwood Shores during the Pac-8 Row�ng Championships.
<br /> Mr. Fales noted that his recommendations regarding the permit to hold
<br /> the event are contained in the motion and are, therefore, in the
<br /> public record.
<br /> Jack Penn Redwood City resident, urged that it not be made difficult
<br /> for the Pacific-8 to hold their races in Redwood City because of
<br /> excessive fire and police protection requirements Mr. Penn stated
<br /> he believes the event would be desirable for the City.
<br /> William Pound 502 Neptune Drive, Commodore of the Sailing Club at
<br /> Redwood Shores, stated his organization welcomes the Pac-8 event and
<br /> � likes to have the waterways of Redwood Shores used.
<br /> The amendment with the added condition failed on the following roll
