Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, <br /> to eliminate the position of Facility Leader at the Fair Oaks <br /> Cortonunity Center which has been vacant since August 11, 1976. <br /> In response to question, City Manager Fales advised that the <br /> position has not been vacant but has been filled by Compre- <br /> hensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) employees. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> , MOTION. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, <br /> that funds for the operating budget of the Fair Oaks Comnunity <br /> Center reflect a contribution of 50� from the County. (See <br /> Clar�fications 1 and 2 below). <br /> Assistant City Manager Sm�th advised that there is an under- <br /> standing with County staff that a recommendation will be made <br /> to the Board of Supervisors that the County contribute funds <br /> equivalent to 40% of the current operating budget of the Fair <br /> Oaks Center (See paragraph four on page 4. of the Minutes <br /> of the public hearing on Revenue Sharing, 5/21/77) <br /> CLARIFICATION (1) Councilman Norris stated that it is the <br /> intent of his motion to instruct staff to attempt to obtain <br /> 50� of the operating budget from the County <br /> Lengthy discussion followed and Mr. Fales and Mr. Smith com- <br /> mented and replied to question concerm ng the understanding <br /> with the County staff regarding support of the Center, the <br /> responsibility of the County to provide operating funds to cover <br /> use of the Center by those living in the unincorporated part <br /> of the County, the fact that such users are estimated to include <br /> 55% of those using the Center, the fact that the City's goal of <br /> obtaining 50% funding of operating costs by the County remains <br /> � the same, but that 40% has been agreed upon at this time, and <br /> the cost of the proposed expansion of the Center and antici- <br /> pated increased operating costs. <br /> -5- Ad,7.Mtg. <br /> Budget <br /> ` 6/4/77 <br />
