154 <br /> that Council approve bid documents for the lease of the property <br /> which set forth a lease period of one year with a one-year option <br /> at a minimum monthly rental of $450 <br /> MOTION Title having been read, Councilman Biagt introduced the <br /> following resolution and moved, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, its <br /> adopt�on � <br /> RESOLUTION NO 7764 APPROVING LEASE AGREEMENT AND BIDDING <br /> DOCUMENTS FOR LAND AND IMPROVEMENTS IN THE VICINITY Of <br /> VETERANS BOULEVARD AND WALNUT STREET, AND AUTHORIZING CALL <br /> FOR BIDS THEREFOR <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> Proposed chanqe order re Redwood Shores parks <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of February 11, 1977 re- <br /> garding the sub�ect change order and attaching report from the <br /> Director of Public Works dated February 11 recommending the plant- <br /> ing and turf�ng of new Redwood Shores parks not be completed at the <br /> present time because of the increase in water use demanded In <br /> response to question, Parks and Recreation Director Weeks advised <br /> that the new Palm Park has had the turf installed and that the pro- <br /> posed Canyon Park is in design stages only. <br /> Discussion followed and Mr Fales and Director of Public Works Pus�ch <br /> commented and replied to questions concerning the extremely unusual <br /> drought situation in Northern Caliform a, the requirement of the San <br /> Francisco Water District that the City reduce water use by ten percent <br /> immediately, the need to make people aware of the emergency which ' <br /> exists, the City's intention to advise water users of the emergency <br /> and provide facts to assist them to reduce their use, the possibility <br /> of a one-time newsletter to all residents to advise them concerning <br /> both the water and the sewage capacity situations, whether or not <br /> the State may take over water conservation and establish a program <br /> in accordance with some statements made by Governor Brown, the fact <br /> that inflation might cause the turfing and planting funds which are <br /> adequate now to be inadequate for that purpose if the water shortage <br /> cont�nues for any length of time, what funds might be available to <br /> supplement them and the kinds of statements being made publicly and <br /> prtvately by representatives of the San Francisco Water District. <br /> Bruce Albin, President of the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association <br /> RSHA , described the water conservat�on program being conducted by <br /> the Association with Mobil Oil Estates (Redwood) Limited, advising <br /> that kits and informat�on will be supplied to all Redwood Shores <br /> residents. Mr. Albin suggested that the Parks Department might <br /> monitor sprinklers closely so that water could be available for the <br /> new parks It was explained that watering by the City has been re- <br /> duced about 50% s7nce last year <br /> Don Warren Mobil Oil Estates (Redwood) Limited, advised that hls <br /> organization is working wtth RSHA and also with City staff and <br /> builders in Redwood Shores to set up a public program for water con- , <br /> servation and anticipates it w�ll be successful Mr Warren encour- <br /> aged Council members to indicate endorsement of the program in <br /> -4- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 2/14/77 <br />
