Mayor Leipz�g called attention to the mater�al rece�ved by Council contaim ng Planriing Commiss�on M�nutes and P,4anm,ng Department reports. C E Stewart, 416 Compass Drive, the appellant, referred to h�s testimony conta�ned in the P1am m �g Commission Minutes. Mr. Stewart stated that ttie d�stance between his'building and the;bu�lding on the ad�acent property is 16z feet and later` acknowledged he owns only 13 feet of the space. r ' � + ' In response to questions, P,lanriing Director Schrpeter explained that the Planning;Comm�ssion is asked to m3ke'f�ndings'and those f�ndings are usually'expres`sed by the maker`�of the motion; that'personal ob- servat�ons atiout condit�on`s of'a ng�ghbor,hood are acceptabl�, that where proposed'�development�meets all Cit,y"requirements, the impres- sions of inembers of the Planning Commission would'not`be a consider- ation,'and tiiat the Plann�n9 Commjsston could�not deny'an application for a bu�ldtng �f all requ�rements of tfie Zom ng'Ordinan4e are met. � ,,. , , ., 2 Attention was called to the three alternative uses or development ' suggested by staff wh�ch would'meet the requirements of the'Zom ng - Ordinence and Mr. Schroeter cominented 'and`repli'ed to quest�ons con- cerning them. � � �" ' � Mayor Leipzig invited anyone else present who w�shed to speak to do , , so. The publ�c hearing was closed at 7.50 p m. � Discussion continued and Mr Schroeter commented and replied to ques- tions concerning the existing alternatives for development of the sub�ect property, the age of the present dwelling;' tlie fact that the nei9hborhood is mostly older single-family dwell�ngs,with some multiple family dwellings; and the lack of adequate,garages,of older homes.
