' Y9? <br /> � , <br /> � <br /> ��� <br /> � <br /> I E K Fisher, 2555 M�ddlefield Road, inquired as to whether any <br /> ! change had been recommended in funds allocated to PROBE for 1978-79 <br /> � Assistant City Manager Smith advised that the amount recommended <br /> is the same as for 1977-78 <br /> Diane Gunn, 730 Baron, Sequoia Trailer Park, member of the Fair <br /> ' Oaks Senior Citizen Drop-In Center, commented favorably on the <br /> assistance provided to seniors by the handyman program and on the <br /> sociability en�oyed at the Center <br /> � � <br /> Zuma Francis, 904 Cleveland, commented concerning the great need <br /> in the community for the Senior Drop-In Center. <br /> Rich Gordon, Coordinator, YMCA Youth and Family Service, 1445 <br /> Hudson Street, referred to the recommended $5,330 for his agency <br /> and requested that an additional $1,330 be allocated on a one- <br /> time basis in connection with a transition from the present <br /> federal grant funding to other sources of funds as of June 1979. <br /> Mr Gordon described the Diversion and Prevention Program which <br /> aims at diverting youthful offenders and preventing recidivism <br /> He stated that �n the future the program will be conducted through <br /> the County Probation Department and that a formula has been de- <br /> veloped for reimbursement of expenses by user cities, noting <br /> that the Redwood City share is 6% of the total based on youth <br /> population, although 53% of those who are referred to the Program <br /> are from Redwood City He acknowledged that the fact that the <br /> Program is in the City probably accounts for the large number of <br /> participants here. <br /> D�scussion followed and Mr. Gordon commented and replied to ques- <br /> ' tions concerning the program of his agency It was pointed out <br /> that it is considered to be an exemplary pro�ect <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, <br /> to increase the amount budgeted from the recommended $5,330 for <br /> the YMCA Youth and Family Service to $6,660. <br /> i� The motion carried unanimously by voice vote � <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 78-121) <br /> Amelia Sandoval, 131 James Street, employee and volunteer at the <br /> Fair Oaks Se m or Center, described her introduction to the Center <br /> and commented favorably on the services presented there Mrs <br /> Sandoval also spoke on behalf of support of PROBE and of the Fair <br /> Oaks Community Center <br /> Melville Stevenson, advised he is a shopper for shut-ins working <br /> through the Senior Center, noting he shops for about 465 people <br /> each year on both a regular and occasional basis. <br /> Resident, 11 Cortez Road, advised he represented PROBE at the <br /> recent Chamber of Commerce Planning for Progress Seminar and that <br /> he was impressed at Council and staff knowledge of the needs of <br /> the community and their willingness to attempt to meet them. <br /> ' Cliff Boxle.y, PROBE, in response to question, advised that his <br /> agency spends almost nothing on btlingual education In response <br /> to further questions, Mr Boxley agreed to provide at the Revenue <br /> Sharing hearing a copy of the total budget for PROBE, advised <br /> - 2 - Budget Study <br /> 5/ 13/ 78 <br /> b <br />
