Y 99 <br /> has indicated they are planning to expand and will pay for the <br /> expansion It was suggested that, g�ven the membership of the PYC <br /> and the fact that a recreation fac�lity Ts needed at Fair Oaks, <br /> that a recreation facility be constructed within the City at <br /> Fair Oaks. <br /> ' Discussion followed and Mr Fales and Park and Recreation Director <br /> Weeks commented and replied to questtons concerning the possible <br /> construct�on of a recreat�on facil�ty at Fa�r Oaks in connection <br /> with PYC, the present plans of the PYC regarding location, whether <br /> the Park and Recreation Commission wtll be involved, the fact <br /> that there has been some ,7oint planning between the consultant <br /> for the community swimming pool and the PYC, whether other options <br /> might be considered, the land available in both locations, and <br /> ' whether the possibility might not be brought to the attention of <br /> the PYC. <br /> SOCIAL SERVICE CENTERS <br /> FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER OPERATIONS <br /> FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER INFORMATION AND REFERRAL <br /> SENIOR INfORMATION AND REFERRAL <br /> It was suggested that a monthly desk fee charge of about $10.00 <br /> be made to those agencies using the Fair Oaks Community Center for <br /> their services. <br /> Discussion foliowed and Mr. Fales and Mr Smith commented and re- <br /> plied to quest�ons concerning the fact that one concept of the <br /> � use of the Center was to provide space to various social service <br /> agencies in order that they might bring their services to the <br /> attention of those needing them, the fact that most agencies <br /> using the Center are from the County or the State, and that much <br /> desk use �s for short term programs or for community based non- <br /> profit organizations <br /> Comment was also made concerning the possible duplication of <br /> services of referral agencies, the desire that servicesbe brought <br /> to the attention of those for whom they are intended, changes in <br /> County organizatton which should improve the situation, and the <br /> varying compos�tion of groups needing referral services <br /> CONSENSUS At the suggestion of Councilmen Norr�s and Biagi, <br /> Mayor Barrett determined it was the consensus of Council to change <br /> certain parts of the Social Service Centers Program as follows. <br /> page 51, Program Goal - delete "to develop and expand" and insert <br /> "for", pa9e 52, first sub-program goai - delete "to develop and <br /> expand" and insert "for", page 52, 1978-79 Ob,7ectives - delete <br /> "and expansion" from No 1 and delete all of No 2 and insert <br /> elsewhere under goals for the Civic Cultural Commission, and <br /> ap ge 52, 1978-79 Ob,7ectives of Fair Oaks Information and Referral, <br /> in No 1 insert "minimum" preceding "daily", and on page 53, in <br /> sub-program goal - delete "counseling" and insert "advice". <br /> (memo 5/15/78) <br /> ' Nita Di Masi, 2412 Hardy, Chairman of the fair Oaks Community <br /> Center Advisory Board, commented concerning the consensus to <br /> delete the ob,7ective (page 52) relating to the multicultural art <br /> pro�ects in the Human Services Program and place it on page 56 <br /> -4- Budget Study <br /> 5/13/78 <br />
