; <br /> 3 �5�1,�� <br /> F� � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> i <br /> ( <br /> Peter Gruchala, 573 Marlin Court, Director of Finance for Kaiser � <br /> Aerospace and a resident of Redwood Shores, read a petition from �� <br /> other residents of the area supporting the Bren Development in the �f <br /> present proposed form and urging approval of the development (Mr .,i <br /> t <br /> Gruchala did not file the petition with the City Clerk ) � <br /> � Lillian Nolan, 348 Bowsprit, homeowner in Redwood Shores, spoke in ' <br /> opposition to the issuance of a PDP to Bren Co , stating that the cy <br /> proposed development would downgrade the area and create traffic <br /> problems. ^a <br /> Sigmund Kay, 412 Keel Lane, homeowner in Redwood Shores, stated that r� <br /> increased development is needed in the area and that the proposed !,; <br /> development is beauttful Mr. Kay urged approval of the PDP �j <br /> �: <br /> Mary Finnell, 538 Cringle Drive, in Redwood Shores, stated that � <br /> the proposed homes are too sinall and would create a poor housing � <br /> area which might later be abandoned. In response to request, Mr � <br /> Shea of Bren Co. advised that the homes will be of from 1450 to <br /> 2250 square feet and are expected to be sold from prices ranging <br /> from $65,000 to $85,000. Mrs F�nnell acknowledged that the homes a <br /> were larger than she had been led to believe i <br /> � <br /> Mrs Bear 562 Keelson Circle, Redwood Shores, asked whether police � <br /> and fire service for the area would be adequate with the additional , <br /> proposed 150 homes. It was explained to Mrs Bear that pol�ce and . <br /> fire protection would continue the same as at present for the area � <br /> with some reduction of the individual District tax for the services. <br /> Darrvl Coe, 317 Quay Lane, spoke in favor of the proposed develop- ; <br /> � ment, not�ng that he has concerns about the private streets. : <br /> John Bergman, 563 Mar17n Court, Redwood Shores, suggested that the i <br /> proposed development is a good one and will enhance the area. <br /> Resident, 151 Cervantes, owner of 531 Compass Drive, Redwood Shores, ' <br /> stated the proposed development is good and suggested it be made clear <br /> who is responsible for maintaining the private streets, observing <br /> that she prefers public roads , <br /> Ron MacQuarrie, 558 Keelson Circle, Redwood Shores, stated that he <br /> favors the proposed development generally, but would l�ke to com- <br /> ment later when the staff report on public versus private streets <br /> is considered. � <br /> In response to question, City Manager Fales stated that staff can <br /> recommend private streets for the proposed development, but that <br /> if Council decides to approve it with public streets as a condition, <br /> then staff has specific recommendations that should be adopted <br /> which could be considered when the subdivision map for the develop- <br /> ment comes before Council <br /> Lengthy discussion followed and Mr. Fales, Director of Public Works <br /> ' Pusich and Mr Shea commented and replied to questions concerning <br /> public versus private streets generally and with regard to the pro- <br /> posed development Mr Pus�ch referred to his coimnunication of <br /> April 30, 1976 addressed to the City Manager regarding the Bren <br /> Development and private versus public streets (P W.File 3005), <br /> � -3- <br /> Reg.Mtg <br /> 5/3/76 <br /> _ _ � � , �,< <br />
