Discussion followed <br /> and City Manager Fales commented on his report. <br /> ' MOTION. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, that <br /> Council adopt the fourth alternative for improving animal control services <br /> contained in the report of the City Manager of June 2, 1976 as follows• <br /> 9 "Through the use of CETA, place a person with the Peninsula Humane Society <br /> for training and assignment to just Redwood City, working from 3.00 p.m. <br /> to 12•00 M", except that two CETA empioyees be used ` <br /> In response to question, Mr. Fales advised he did not know if equipment <br /> would be available for two employees, since presumably the Council would <br /> desire double coverage rather than two employees using the same truck <br /> Discussion fol]owed concern�ng the poss�b]e ways in which two CETA <br /> employees could be most effectively used to improve animal control services. <br /> CLARIFICATION• Councilman Rhodes, who seconded the motion, in agreement <br /> with the maker of the motion,�stated that staff should be giJen discre- <br /> tion as to what may be most practical in carrying out the direction of <br /> the motion � ' <br /> Zuma Francis, 904 Cleveland, suggested an investigation with San Mateo <br /> County of the inefficiencies of the SPCA might be in order�and`related her <br /> difficulties with that orga m zation. <br /> � , , <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote - _' � <br /> , , . , �� , � . <br /> , Revenue Sharing (pp. 97-101) , <br /> Y <br /> City Manager Fales described the permitted uses for Revenue Sharing'funds <br /> and referred to the sub�ect pages'providing details of proposed expendi- <br /> tures. , , <br /> , CITY LIBRARY , _ <br /> In response to`question, Mr Fales advised that the Library Board <br /> had given high priority to the purchase of audio visual materials <br /> for which $19,000 has been allocated <br /> �Jud, �Kp�la �roth, Assistant City Librarian, confirmed that the Library <br /> Board considered the purchase of audio visual materials a htgh pri- <br /> ority item and adv�sed that $10,000 of the $19,000 allocated is <br /> intended for the purchase of films She observed that the �ibrary <br /> is building the program through Revenue Sharing funds and will <br /> mairttaln them after purchase. <br /> Discussion followed"and Mrs Klapproth replied to questions con- <br /> cerning the use of cooperative systems in the County, the fact that <br /> there is�very heavy use of films by organizations,'the necessity of <br /> having or borrowing a 16'rron pro,7ector in order to show the films, <br /> , the unlikelihood of much duplication of the City's collection with <br /> those in the school collections, and the fact that the City's films <br /> are of general adult interest. <br /> , � •, <br /> -4- <br /> - � '� ' Budget Study <br /> 6/5/76 <br /> , , <br />
