4�� � <br /> It was suggested that since Redwood City is more progressive in <br /> social areas than some other cittes in San Mateo County, it is <br /> disturbing to have PROBE advocate against the City Tnterests, <br /> for example, in the current lawsuit relating to housing, or to <br /> offer no assistance with regard to the proposed regional shopping <br /> ' center. <br /> The motion carried by ma�ority voice vote, two "No" vcrtes being <br /> recorded. (MINUTE ORDER NO 76-157) <br /> (The Council recessed from 5•40 to 5 50 p.m ) <br /> Parks and Recreation - Alternatives (pp. 7-9) <br /> MOTION. Councilman Rhodes moved that $7,000 be allocated to Palm Park <br /> from the unallocated Capital Outlay Fund for the installation of shrubs <br /> and trees. <br /> M07ION WITHDRAWN. Upon advice of'City Manager Fales that it would be <br /> preferable to wait until a recommendation is made with regard to Palm <br /> Park before allocating a specific amount, Councilman Rhodes withdrew his <br /> motion <br /> Councilman Norris stated for the record that he would like to have Palm <br /> Park developed at least to the extent of having trees, shrubs and a play <br /> area <br /> Discussion followed and Mr. Fales and City Controller Ference commented <br /> and replied to questions concerning the result of Council actions in <br /> , reviewing the recommended Budget to date, the desirability of waiting <br /> for results of tax collectior+ before making any changes in the reserve <br /> on the secured tax roll, the possible adverse effect of an unfavorable <br /> court decision with regard to the pending Fair Labor Standards Act case, <br /> the need for'reserve`s to meet unanticipated expenditures; the concern <br /> about the inadequate City reserves at present and the desire of Council <br /> to bring the reserve fund to a reasonable amount for a city the size <br /> of Redwood City with the klnd of commitments it has, the details regard- <br /> ing adoption of the Annual Budget for 1976-77, and the substantial <br /> reduction of the proposed tax rate made as a result of Council action <br /> during Budget Study Sessions. ' <br /> Councilman Rhodes stated for the record he would support the Budget as <br /> �t now stands, but that he wi11 be out of the City on June 21, 197b when <br /> it is officially presented for adoption <br /> Ad�ournment � ' <br /> MOTION• Councilman Bury moved, seconded by Councilman Bragi; to ad�ourn <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> The Council ad�ourned the Budget Study Session at 6 07 p.m <br /> ' JACQUELINE C.
