:31E9 <br /> San Mateo County Scavenger Company - request for rate increase <br /> Ctty Manager Fales referred to the Study for Rate Increase for the <br /> San Mateo County Scavenger Company prepared by the City Controller's <br /> Office and to the Controller's memoranda of April 6 and 12 addressed <br /> to the Manager Mr. Fales described the program which would include <br /> ' the pickup of municipal garbage and advised that most Peninsula <br /> cities have used the Study in connection with setting of rates <br /> In response to questions, City Controller Ference advised that <br /> 12% of the revenue goes to the City for billing and collection and <br /> that the proposed rates are comparable to those of other cities. <br /> MOTION Titles having been read, Councilman Williams introduced the <br /> following resolution and ordinance and moved, seconded by Councilman <br /> Leipzig, approval of the ordinance and adoption of the resolution <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14.31 AND 14 32 OF THE CODE OF <br /> THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO RATES OF CHARGE FOR <br /> REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICE <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 7582 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br /> AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH SAN MATEO COUNTY SCAVENGER <br /> COMPANY RELATING TO RATES OF CHARGE FOR REFUSE COLLECTION <br /> SERVICE <br /> City Attorney Schricker advised that Section 14 31(a) of the pro- <br /> posed ordinance is to be corrected before publication <br /> (memo 4/13/76) <br /> � The resolution was adopted and the ordinance approved unanimously <br /> by roll call vote. <br /> Termination of Agreements with Bay Area Urban League <br /> for the administration of the Com rehensive Em lo ment <br /> Trainin Act Pro ram CETA <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of April 9, 1976 regarding <br /> the sub�ect recommended termination and attaching letters from the <br /> Bay Area Urban League and memoranda from the Director of Personnel. <br /> Mr. Fales pointed out that the recommendation for termination of <br /> the agreements was made reluctantly but in recognition of the fact <br /> that BAUL either refuses to recognize the City's responsibilities <br /> or is tncapable of understanding the intent of the language in the <br /> agreements. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the content of the report and attach- <br /> ments from the Manager which describe the background leading to the <br /> recommendation of termination. <br /> MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Leipztg, <br /> to accept the recommendation of staff that the Agreements with <br /> the Bay Area Urban League be terminated and that, in accordance <br /> with the Agreements, a 30-day notice be given, and that the City <br /> ' assume full administrative responsibility for the CETA Program, <br /> effective May 11, 1976. <br /> -4- <br /> Reg.Mtg <br /> 4/12/76 <br />
