He asked Mr. !;arpenter if, in liis opinion, tha � <br /> Council could ha ve required payment of these texes. �dr. Carpenter <br /> replied to his letter end concurred in the opinion that Mr. McC�rthy <br /> had rendered the council and said that he believed if the matter rvere � <br /> to be brought up in court Mr. McCarthy�s opinion would be upheld. <br /> Citq Attorney McCar�hy advised that the Cour�ty Tax Colle ctor had given <br /> notice of sale of' property deeded to the Stete f or delinquent taxos <br /> of approximately 55 parcels of land, the sale to be held July 25th. <br /> There are six lots within the City of Redy�ood �ity included in tha o <br /> sale. He stated that the Council had authorizad him to request the <br /> Poard of Supervisors to cancel taxes on lots in Redwood City and re- <br /> commended that the council request the postponing of the sale of the <br /> lots within the city. He believad the matter miaht be aeted upon b3* <br /> the Board of Supervisors so that the taxes will b e cancelled and � <br /> the city could se,�l the lots and redeem the w hole proceeds. Council- <br /> man Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman idcNulty, that the Tex Col- <br /> lector':be requested to postpone the sale of six city lots publishod <br /> in the Tax Colle ctor�s notice of sale of' public property set f or July � <br /> 25th.
