He <br /> ,' beliaved thare were some charges in those claims that should be charged <br /> aE3ainst the old budget and asked. that when the bills are approvod he would <br /> like to have includod in the motion that the following claims be cHarged <br /> against the 1944-45 budget; Claims No. 5688, 5691, 5674, 5709, 5710, 5711, <br /> ' 5688, 5686, 5G78, 5677, 5697, 5696, 5694� and 5695. <br /> �ouncilman Gran�er asked when the water depertment budget was to be � e�ented. <br /> � City Manager Mead advised that it is not as yet prapared and that the books <br /> ere no* closed ,yet. A meeting will have to be called before tho last meet- <br /> ing in August to discuss this budget. <br /> Councilman Granger said there was a serious fire hazerd at 339 Lowell �treet. <br /> • ' �jhe house has boen vacant f or two or three years,and weeds heve been allowed <br /> to grow.. ' <br /> Councilman Granger believed the street lights should be put back in their regular <br /> - status and that there should be included in the budget funds to remove the <br /> paint and cleen the fixtures. Councilman Granger moved that thore b8 in- <br /> cluded in the budget funds to romove paint and clean the atreet light fix- <br /> tftres, saconded by Councilman Armstrong. Under the question, Councilman <br /> ' Britschgi asked the Fire Chief if it would be possible to do tho work at <br /> this time. Chief Hyan replied that it be possihle to do so. Mayor <br /> � Hilton asked if the work would be charged against civilian defense, however, <br /> the general consensus of the council was thet this tvould be an appropriate <br /> charge against the elctric department. The motion passed unaninously. <br /> Councilman Granger advised that some of the merchanta and citizens are complaining <br /> about tho number of dogs in the buSiness district and he believed sone steps <br /> • ahoii•ldbbe taken to keep tha business district clear of dogs. Citg Manager <br /> Meed advised that the ordinance does not require Yhat licensed d o�3s be kept <br /> on a leash from sunrise to sundowrn but_only from sundown to sunrise. City <br /> Attornay McCarthy referred to the ordinance and concurred in this opinion. <br /> Councilman Granger suggested that the proper authoritiea be instructed to <br /> , instruct the poundman to meke an effort to keop the do�s out of tha business <br /> area. <br /> Councilman Granger questioned the fact that a lot on Jefferson at the corner of <br /> Grand Streat had been turned around and the housea had beeri built to face <br /> on Grand Street. He asked if this matter had ever come befora the Council. <br /> ' Buildin6 Inspector Duncan advised that this lot hed been subdlvidad; there <br /> formorly had been f our lots on Jefferson which faced the c.�eek and thet they <br /> had been convorted into three lots to face on Grand.
