City Manager Blom was in Favor of the requeet ' <br /> being granted provideci the street :ti�as full width, i,e.� 27 fe�t wide. <br /> Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that tne.per- <br /> mit be granted for both streets, B 9treet betvueen Arguello to the end of <br /> Lot 16, Block 8, Lenolt Tract, and (7 Street between Lenolt Street and the ' <br /> Ranoho de las Pulgas line, with the'understanding that the etreet put <br /> in full width and that the work be fone under the plane and specifications <br /> �as set forth by the City Manager. Motion paesed unanimously; � <br /> City Attorney MeCarthy adviaed that Mr. Weiner wiehed to purchase a lot in the <br /> Lenolt Tract and asked that the city advertise it for eale. Oounoilman <br /> Granger moved, seconded by CounciZman Anderson, that the lot be offered � <br /> for sale. Motion paesed unanimously, <br /> City Manager Blom advised that it was becoming increaeingly difficult to get <br /> laborere in the etreet department for the present rate of $7.00.per day. � <br /> He eaid the general rate was coneiderably above that figure and asked thaz <br /> some adjustment be made. It was decided that $8,00 a day would be in line <br /> witn prevailing rates. Councilman Anderson offered introduction of ordi= ' <br /> nance amending ealary ordinance to provide setting rate of pay fos laborere <br /> at �8.00 per day retroactive to April 1, 1946, seconded by Councilman <br /> Granger. Motion passed unanimously, <br /> City Manager Hlom advised that he riad received bids on necessarq supplies of <br /> water pipe, valvee and fittinga to carry out the amount of auork that will <br /> have to be done in the coming year to the-water_syetem, He advised that <br /> it was very difficult to get delivery and that tne best delivery date ne <br /> ha,d �een able to eecure wae from October 1 to 15, 1946, with 20�+ of the • <br /> order delivered bp Ju1y 1, Trie total oost of required material amounte to <br /> approximately �54,000, and he asked authority to issue purchase,orders for <br /> the necessary material, some of trie cnarge to be made against next qear's <br /> budget. There was a discussion as to whether it vuas neceasary to adver- <br /> tise for bids for purchases of tnis amount and, after referring to the ' <br /> Cnarter, it was diseovered tnat it was necessary for an ordinance to be <br /> , adopted for purcnases over $500.
