 _ .. .
305
City Manager Blom adnised that he had a request from a Mrs..Ethridge for conatruo-
tion of sewer_to serve tvuo lots on Topaz Btreet whicn aue owna and on which
ene wants to build. The lots are about 1'50 Peet north of Jefferson, The
street is undeveloped and there are no sewers. Cards had been sent to other
property ownere of lots on this atreet and very were interested in having
sewers installed, After some discussion; it was decided that the applicant
, should install the sewer and if later there is an assessment district the
city could at tnat time give her credit for the amount for which she would
be aesessed,
Councilman Granger suggested that some means be adopted to prevent heavy trucks
' from traveling over residential streets, particularly in Edgewood Park, He
was of the opinion that they ehould be made to travel on main thoroughfares.
It was tne opinion of the Council, however, that no action be taken on this
at thie time.
Councilman Granger questioned if the multiple building on Vera Avenue vaas being
• faced on Vera Avenue according to agreement. After viewing plana presented

by the Building Inspector, it was discovered that the entrancewas faced on
Vera Avenue,
City Attorney McGarthy advised that Mrs, Miramontes wae doubtful if the city had
a clear title to the lot which wae to be offered for sale at the request of
Mr. Pleiner and he asked permiseion to obtain a title report. Councilman
Granger moved, seconded by Councilman BHcNulty, that the City Attorney be
' authorized to obtain a title reporton thie lot, Motion pasaed unanimouely.
Connumication was received from City Treasurer podge advieing that Mies Ethel
Murray, owner of three $500 bonde in the 1915 eeries, has offered tnese
bonds to the City for par nalue plus interest coupone, Councilmsn Anderson
moved the City Treasurer be authorized to accept the offer. Oouncilman
Armatrong, however, objected on the grounde that the city bought the remain-
der of these bonds for about forty or Yifty cents on the dollar, He did
not believe it wae fair to the people who had eold the other bonds to accept
• this offer, Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armetrong,
that the.request be denied. Under the question, Councilman McNulty con- ,
curred in this opinion. City Attorney McCarthy advised that these bonda are
probably outlawed if it has been four yeare from tne last date of maturity.
He suggested that the City Treasurer notify the holder of the bonde that
' they are worthless because they are outlawed, Thia suggeation wae accepted.
Motion paeaed unanimouely.
Claims No. 6681 to 7627 inclueive 1n the amount of $6558,22 were approved and
ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman
' Armstrong.
