Oleson appeared before the Council representing the Peninsula Celebra- <br /> tion Committee requesting that the Council appropriate �1000, or the cost <br /> of the fire workds, for the 4tn of July celebration, He explained that the ' <br /> Peninsula Celebration committee was now incorporated and that funds derived <br /> from the celebration would be.kept for a proposed rodeo grounds, There wae <br /> eome discuesion as to whether the advertising w3�ich the city would derive <br /> from the celebration would be sufficient to warrant paying for the fire- <br /> works. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britechgi, that <br /> the City Manager be instructed to atudy the budget and see if funde are • <br /> available and report back at the next meeting. Under the question, City <br /> Manager B1om advised ne would also determine what costs, other than that <br /> of fireworke, the city would have to aeswne in regard to the celebration, <br /> Motion passed unanimously. . <br /> Dr, Hernard Silber appeared before the Council requesting permission to use <br /> building at 88-90 Birch 9treet for the exclusive use of doctore and dentists. ' <br /> City Attorney McCarthy advieed that there is no restriction for euch build- <br /> inge must be presented to.the Council, however, Dr, Silber advised that <br /> there would be no enange in plane and that only name plates would be placed <br /> on the ourside of the building, It was decided that no action was neces- <br /> sary by the Council, <br /> City Manager Blom advieed that at the last meeting of the Council bids had been � <br /> received on two pieces of property and that on one piece the higheet bid <br /> had been lese tnan 90� of the appraised value. One of the bidders ha.d • <br /> asked to be allowed to resubmit a bid. Another bid nad also been receined <br /> on thie property, namely, Lot 7, Block 10, Sweeney Addition, The Council <br /> had no objection to receiving the bide wnich vuere ae follows: <br /> Mr. Yr. H. Morriseey on behalf of Mrs. Andrini: �1100.00, $120.00 certified <br /> check enclosed. ' <br /> Mre. Marion Longwenus: �1100.00, $110.00 cerrified check enclosed, <br /> The appraised value of this lot was $1100.00. There wae coneiderable dis- <br /> cuseion as to whose bid should be accepted inasmuch as they were identical, <br /> Mr. Morriasey appeared and asked.that Mrs, Andrini be awarded the bid in- ' <br /> asmuch as the lot had previously belonged to her and that ehe had deeded the <br /> lot to the city after which she could not redeem it, It was decided that <br /> inaemuch ae L4ra. Andrini's bid had been received first, her bid would be <br /> accepted, Councilman Britechgi did not beieve this method ehould be fol- <br /> lowed inasmuch as there wae no time limit for receiving bids, It was hie <br /> opinion that a drawing should be held.
