'
City Manager Blom reported on the estimated cost o the city's participation in
the Fourth of July Celebratien as requested by the Peninaula Celebration
Committee. Fire Works -1000, whicn may be,subject to discount; construc-
tion of a temporary foot bridge over the creek whicn flows across the park '
area; "500; electrical work oased on expense in the past, 350; water'service
and furnisning of water, $250; some minor grading at the entrances to the
park, 100; discing, $100. Total expense, including the fire works, would
mount to 2300, whicn did not include police protection. It was the City
Manager's opinion that this estimate wa.s fairly close as to the city's share
of the cost of the celebration as requested to.date. The Committee is nori incorporated and plana to develop a per-
manent rodeo site from tne proceeds of the celebration. Mr. Kenneth Botiven
also appeared and advised that the profits from the celebration would stay
with the comrnittee; the organizationa that are sponsoring concessions will.
split the net profit 35% for themselvee and 65 to the committee, and tne
San Mateo County Mounted Patrol, who is staging tne rodeo, vill take 50%
of the sale of the rodeo ticketa. Councilman Armstrong expressed the opinion
triat the Council might be subject to criticism if it donated the sum requested
to an organization which xould retain all profit.
