Tne Recreation Co�nmission had favored the erection <br /> of a Quonset Hut, however, Qity 4lfanager Blom reported he was not in favor of <br /> this type of construction, The cost of a 40 x 100 Cuonset Hut, including <br /> plumbing, lignting, ineulation, �vater heater and vcood flooring was eatimated <br /> at $10,395, less $300 if a cement f'loor rrere used. The cost of a 50 x 100 <br /> ouilding of standard construction �itn sufficient nead room so that it Could � <br /> ee used for indoor games and including �riring and plumbing vuas estimated at <br /> �11,430. He atated it wrould coet about ten percent more to build a standard <br /> type building which would provide twenty percent more floor space, He reoom- <br /> mended that if a.ny building euere built the standard type construction be <br /> used, however, he believed this should be deterrnined after the services of <br /> a planning consultant or engineer were obtained in regard to the development <br /> of tne recreational area: Councilman Armstrong expressed the opinion that � <br /> he wae againet delaying the program too long as tnere was a definite need <br /> for recreational development. City Manager Blom advised that the Peninsula <br /> Celebration Committee is considering reorganizing the rodeo on the 4th of <br /> July and that it might be poesible to install eome sanitary facilities in <br /> there before that time. Councilman Gran�er asked if the planning of the � <br /> recreation program would wor'� againet the master pla.n of tne Planning Com- <br /> misaion. City Manager Blom advised tha.t the recreation prograrn vrould only <br /> improve parke already located. <br /> Conaideration of the new taxicab ordinance eaas discusaed. Representatives of � <br /> the taxicab comnanies a,ppeared. City Attorney hicCartn*� read zone rates <br /> which would be effective until the installation of ineters. He inforraed the <br /> Council that he understood 1t vra.s nova possible to obtain tne metere and <br /> that the ordinance provided For their installation witnin 180 days after <br /> the effective date o£ the ordinance, The ordinance also provides that the � <br /> Cnief of Police will eatablish taxi etands on public streets.
