From E1 <br /> Camino Real�to Duane Street on the opposite eide of the high school grounds <br /> tnere are five houses which are ten feet or less from the property line, <br /> The Catholic parish house is less than ten feet from James Avenue property <br /> line and.several vacant Iota on the northerly side of the etreet are fifty � <br /> feet in width whicn by changing tne setback line would make t'r.em only fortp <br /> foot lots, James Avenue is nov� tnirty-six feet r�ide wnich is wider than <br /> most residentlal s.treets. He wae of the opinion that it would be advisable <br /> to use part of the parking strips Por the purpose of widening should it be <br /> deairable to do so, Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilaran � <br /> Fletcher, that the recornmendation of .the City Manager be accepted; i, e., <br /> tna:t when and if it is determined to vriden James Avenue that portions of <br /> the parking strips be used, .Motion passed unanimously. <br /> City Manager Blom reported on proposed.lighting of the Cross. He stated that the <br /> . preeent method of lighting the Cross is by condulets built on to the frame. <br /> This method entails considerable expense in repairing each year, A pro- <br /> poaed method, and v�hich he would recommend be used, consists of panels to � <br /> be prepa.red in the shop wnich would be pulled into place and could be re- <br /> moved and returned to the shop after the period of�lighting was over. 'i`he <br /> estimated cost of building the panels is $200. Councilman Fletcher moved, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britsch�i, that the City Manager's recommendation <br /> be approved. Motion passed unanimously, <br /> Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman k�eNulty, filing of affidavit <br /> of publication of ordinance rezoning Lote 2,- 4, o and 7, Block 1, Redwood � <br /> Highlanda, �Sotion passed unani:nously. . <br /> Councilrnan Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, adoption of ordinance <br /> rezoning Lots 2, 4, 6 and 7, Block 1, Redwood Highlands, On roll call, <br /> ordinance was unanimously adopted with Counci'lman Anderson absent, <br /> Oity b4anager Hloar reported on employees residing outside of city limits. He ad- � <br /> vised that Charles Randlett, Acting City Engineer, is being evicted from <br /> his home which is outside of the city limits and is negotiating for the <br /> purchase of a lot, He also has a prospect for a home within the limits, <br /> It auas City �anager Blom's euggestion that this Ynatter be placed on the <br /> ager�da for thirty days. He als.o reported that a nwnoer oP servicemen who � <br /> have returned to their positions have been having diff3culty 3n locating <br /> a place to live within the city, It was his opinion that these men who <br /> have been in tlie service should be given a reasonable period of time to <br /> find a place to live. Councilman Gra.nger moved that the servicemen be <br /> given eix months to find a home within the city, Mayor Hilton objected � <br /> to a specific time being given on the assurnption that they would take eix <br /> � <br />
