C. - Page 22 <br /> 14.18 Recognized Holidays <br /> 14.18.1 The following are the recognized holidays for employees in the following classifications: <br /> —Forty (40) hour Battalion Chiefs <br /> —Deputy Fire Chief <br /> —Administrative Chief/Fire Marshal <br /> New Year's Day <br /> Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (observed on the third Monday in January) <br /> Washington's Birthday (observed on the third Monday in February) <br /> Memorial Day (observed on the last Monday in May) <br /> Independence Day <br /> Labor Day (observed on the first Monday in September) <br /> Veterans Day (observed November 11) <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> The Day After Thanksgiving <br /> Christmas Eve <br /> Christmas Day <br /> New Year's Eve <br /> 14.18.2 Two administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed local holidays. <br /> Administrative Holidays may only be taken in eight (8) hour increments. At the option of the <br /> employee, an employee may receive pay at the employee's straight-time rate of pay in lieu of <br /> one or both of the administrative holidays at eight (8) hours per administrative holiday. In the <br /> event that one or both of the administrative holidays are not used by the last pay period paid in <br /> the year (based on the preceding 26 pay periods), payment will be made no later than the first <br /> pay period in February. <br /> 14.18.3 Holiday Compensation for Twenty-Four (24) Hour Duty Schedule Battalion Chiefs <br /> Each employee in the classification of Battalion Chief assigned to a twenty-four (24) hour duty <br /> schedule shall receive no time off in the event the employee is required to work on any of the <br /> days set forth in Section 14.19.1 above. Instead, for each holiday listed in 14.19.1 above, and in <br /> addition to any straight time hours paid on each holiday listed in 14.19.1 above, Battalion Chiefs <br /> assigned to a twenty-four (24) hour duty schedule shall receive eight (8) hours of pay at time and <br /> one-half calculated on the basis of an eight (8) hour day. <br /> For each employee in the classification of Battalion Chief assigned to a twenty-four (24) hour <br /> duty schedule, the two administrative holidays listed in 14.19.2 above may only be taken in <br /> twenty-four (24) hour increments. At the option of the employee, an employee may receive pay <br /> at the employee's straight-time rate of pay in lieu of one or both of the administrative holidays at <br /> eight (8) hours per administrative holiday calculated on the basis of an eight (8) hour day.
