� . <br /> TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU) LOCAL 521 <br /> contract vear; pro-rated for part time workers. Workers on alternative <br /> work schedules will have the ootion of takina vacation, comp time off <br /> or unoaid leave to cover anv scheduled hours in excess of eiqht (8) <br /> hours in one (1) day. <br /> 4. The following terms and conditions aoplv to the furlouah proqram: <br /> a. Effective 2013, the Citv reserves the right to close Citx Hall and <br /> other departments between the Christmas and New Year holidavs. <br /> Workers in departments affected bv the closure will take the three <br /> j31 dav furlouah durinq the closure. In the event the worker has <br /> taken the furlouah time off prior to the closure, the worker mav use <br /> paid leave durinq the time off. The Citv will notifv the Union of a <br /> City deqartment closure bv June 1 <br /> b. Furlouqhs mav be taken in a minimum of one work dav increments <br /> or in lesser increments bv mutual aareement, with orior suoervisor <br /> �proval. This includes the abilitv to adiust alternative work <br /> schedules bv mutual aqreement to avoid the necessitv for an <br /> emplovee to use paid or unqaid leave to cover anv scheduled <br /> hours in excess of eiaht (8) hours in one (1) dav. <br /> c. Emplovees mav not use oaid accrued leave durinq furlouqh time. <br /> d. In 2012, and future vears if a deaartment is not subiect to <br /> mandatorv closure davs, a worker will reauest their areferred <br /> furlou h da s and altern te choices b Jul 1 The su ervisor <br /> will approve and schedu �C ouqh time bv Auaust 1 Furloucah <br /> time must be taken bv December 31 Chanaes to scheduled <br /> furlouah davs mav be made bv mutual aqreement between the <br /> supervisor and the worker. Nothina prohibits the worker from <br /> schedulinq and/or takina furlouah davs prior to Julv 1 of anv vear <br /> with the prior aqproval of the suqervisor. <br /> e. Furlouqh time will be considered time in paid status for the <br /> followinq: <br /> • Accrual of paid leave <br /> • Senioritv <br /> • Time in service for steo increases <br /> • Comoletion of probation <br /> • Eliqibilitv for holidavs, and <br /> • Eliqibilitv for health and welfare benefits. <br /> f.
