For the puraose of this <br /> article. immediate familv means soouse, domestic aartner (as defined and <br /> recoanized under state lawl, child. steochild or parent. <br /> 20.1.3 �Ja�sed-sSick leave may be ass�lated- to a maximum sisk�eaae <br /> sredi�of Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) hours. Accrual of sick leave shall cease <br /> when the maximum accrual level has been reached. <br /> 20.1.4 In the event a worker has ass�late�accrued the maximum sick leave sredits <br /> of Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) hours, and the worker becomes so severely ill <br /> that he/she exhausts his/her sick leave, the Human Resources Director may, <br /> upon written recommendation of te the worker's Department Head, authorize <br /> additional sick leave to include any sick leave in excess of the Nine Hundred and <br /> Si�y (960) hours maximum which may have been lost due to the maximum <br /> limitation; provided, however, that sick leave ^•^�"'^ •••^•^ ^^' ^^^��^���'^'^�'�'id not <br /> accrue for a period of six (6) months or longer. <br /> 20.5 �ateraaFParental Leave of Absence Without Pay <br /> 20.5.1 A worker is entitled to California Familv Riqhts Act (CFRA1 bondina leave in <br /> accordance with leaal reauirements. CFRA bondinq leave will run concurrentiv <br /> with oarental leave. <br /> 20.5.2 A^��'°,.,a,o-��,=�;,^�worker shall be granted a leave of absence without pay to fulfill <br /> parenting responsibilities for up to one (1) year following the child's birth or one <br /> (1) year following the filing of application for adoption and actual arrival of a child <br /> in the home. subject to the approval of the Department Head and the Human <br /> Resources Director <br /> 20.5.23 The worker on leave shall be returned to his/her original position, or if that <br /> position is not in existence, to an equivalent position within his/her classification. <br /> 20.5.34 While on parental leave, a worker must exhaust his or her accrued leave. <br /> includina accrued vacation and compensatorv time off, not includin4 sick leave. <br /> Upon exhaustion of paid leave, the worker will remain in unpaid status for the <br /> remainder ofA the parental leave, ^�°°^' ^�„°•^^' �'•°^�•'•*., °^•^�' ,•.�•�^��• <br /> .
