TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU) LOCAL 521 <br /> except Communications Disoatchers, required to serve as a juror for more than <br /> two weeks shall �have the ootion of adiustina his/her regular starting or <br /> quitting time sk�aage�as a result of being called for jury service. <br /> Communications Disaatchers workinq swinq or qrave shifts. required to serve as <br /> a iuror for more than one dav, will have the oation of adiustina his/her startinq or <br /> auittinq time. <br /> 20.13 Family and Medical Leave <br /> 20.13.1 In accordance with the California Family Rights Act of 1991 and the <br /> Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, regular part-time and full-time workers <br /> with one year or more of service are entitled to leave to a maximum of 12 weeks <br /> in a 12-month period: <br /> 20.13.1.1 to care for a child following a birth or placement of a child with the worker <br /> for adoption or foster care; <br /> 20.13.1.2 to care for the spouse, child or parent of the worker who has a serious <br /> health condition; <br /> 20.13.1.3 if the worker is unable to perform his/her job because of the worker's own <br /> serious health condition. <br /> NEW For the qurpose of this section the definition of child means a bioloaical, <br /> adopted, or foster child, stepchild, leqal ward, or a child of a person standinq "in <br /> loco oarentis" (in the qlace of a parent, or a qarent's authoritv who is under 18 <br /> vears of age, or 18 vears of aae or older and incapable of self-care because of <br /> mental or ahvsical disabilitv: spouse/domestic oartner as defined or recoanized <br /> under state law: parent is a bioloaical or adoptive parent or a oerson who stood <br /> "in loco oarentis' to a worker when the worker was a child ( parent-in-law does <br /> not qualifvl. <br /> 20.13.2 When a worker desires leave for the above stated reasons, the worker <br /> should give 30 calendar days written advance notice to his/her immediate <br /> supervisor (or if the event is unforeseeable, worker should give as much notice <br /> as possible). <br /> The City may require that a request for family leave be supported by a <br /> certification issued by the worker's health care provider. <br /> Certification may also be required from the health care provider of the worker's <br /> child, parent or spouse who has a serious health condition before the worker is <br /> approved to use family/medical leave to take care of that family member. <br /> Failure to comply with the above requirements may lead to denial of leave. <br /> �e Ig1 1) Page 18 of 30 �`\�� <br /> � �\� <br />
