The DTPP replaces land use and development <br /> regulations previously contained within the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance for <br /> this portion of the City. A Master EIR was also prepared and adopted as part of <br /> the review and approval process. In FY 10/11 staff amended the DTPP to <br /> response to the lawsuit. (Goal 5) <br /> RDA Expenditure During 2010/11: $114,485 <br /> 7. County Jail Location Alternative (Chemical Way) <br /> The RDA retained consultant services to finding alternative sites for a County <br /> jail. The County considered a number of sites including locations in the <br /> downtown; however, another jail in the downtown would counteract the RDA <br /> and City's investment to revitalize the downtown. A consultant studied the <br /> existing and planned downtown jail sites and the impacts on infill residential <br /> developments. Other consultant tasks include, but are not limited to: <br /> • providing public outreach, <br /> • discussing jail site selection with the County's architect and evaluating <br /> alternative sites in unincorporated San Mateo County, <br /> • retaining an environmental consultant, <br /> • negotiating the purchase price with sellers, <br /> • coordinating CEQA, and <br /> • preparing an Option Agreements and Memorandum of Understanding, staff <br /> reports, tenant relocation cost negotiations, and legal related to possible <br /> acquisition of parcels and planning services for a jail site. (Goal 5). <br /> RDA Expenditure During 2010/11: $472,734 <br /> 8. Downtown Seasonal Banner and Decorations - The Banner Program <br /> reinforces Downtown as a destination by enhancing and capitalizing on the <br /> sense of place, promoting special events and allowing for the changing of <br /> messages and imagery over time to stimulate interest in the area. The vertical <br /> and horizontal banners have been installed throughout the year on a rotating <br /> basis celebrating special events and the seasons. The Agency funded the <br /> fabrication, installation and removal of the banners. (Goal 5) <br /> RDA Expenditure During 2010/11: $9,082 <br /> 9. Grand Boulevard Initiative (GBI) <br /> a. EI Camino Streetscape Improvements - The streetscape improvements on <br /> EI Camino Real, between Broadway and Brewster were completed in FY <br /> 10/11. The project focuses on enhancing the pedestrian experience and <br /> includes wider sidewalks, additional street trees, new pedestrian-scale <br /> lighting, new tree grates and benches, permeable pavers adjacent to curbs, <br /> bulb-outs to narrow pedestrian crossings, wider medians for pedestrian <br /> refuges and narrowed lanes to slow down traffic. <br /> Page 3 <br />
