3.10.7 Potential Effect: The 10 -story building may interfere with aircraft executing a
base leg approach to Runway 12 over the Project site.
F ndin s T City hereby makes finding (1).
Facts in Suonort of Findings:
(a) Exhibit 25 of the Airport Study depicts arrival profiles for Runway 12
from the pattern altitude of 800 f MSL directly o ver the location of the
10 -story building for thred scenarios: (1) a close -in. pattern (approximately 2,300
feet abeam the runway), (2) a left base approach at 60 knots; and - :( 3 ) a left base
ap proach at 100 dots.. From this Exhibit, it can be determined that an aircraft in
the traffic pattern or on a base leg approach to Runway 12 overflying the 10 -story
office buildin g would be at altitudes ranging f corn about X04 to 497 feet .MSL, or
from 157 tv 3 52 . feet over the top o f the -building.
(b) Exhibit .25 also shows the relationship of the existing Paragon building to
such approaches. As can be seen from the exhibit, aircraft currently fly much
closer to the to p g of the Parag building (from 131 to .276 .feet) than they would
to the Project (from 153 to .346 feet).
3.10.8 Potential Effect: The 151 foot high building could have a deleterious effect on
.the operation of an air navi g ation facility (the San Carlos Tower) in that it could
severely restrict the
Minimum altitude for aircraft descending on a short .base to
final approach to Runway 12 over the proposed building.
Findin s; The pity hereby makes finding (1).
Facts in Su ort of Findn s:
(a) Aircraft executing a base to final approach to Runway 12 from the vicinity
of the KNBR tower would be at altitudes of approximately 300 to 360 feet MSL
as they y pass over the site of the 10- story building. Therefore, the
clearance over the top of the building would be approximately 15 0 . feet.
(b) Aircraft on such an approach to .Runway 12 would fly .much closer to the
to of the existin. .P on buildin (app 130 feet). Moreover 150
P g g
feet clearance were rewired over the top of any building in the San Carlos Mass
 hi
airspace, the 222 -foot h Oracle building would be the controlling object.
p
(c) At least three existing buildings in the inimediate vicinity of the Project
would
require that altitudes
in excess of 300 feet MSL be maintained if a
descendin g aircraft is to maintain 150 feet of clearance over these buildings on
FNDNGPI .DOC
513419610:51 AM
