F!75-A-IS
Camoaignn QDerations
There are many keys to success in a fundraising enterprise. The follow items are
essential to a successful campaign:
A. BOARD PARTICIPATION
The Redwood City PAL Board and all committee members need to provide
vigorous leadership in the enlistment of committee members and in the
actual solicitation of funds from prospects for significant funds.
B. A VOLUNTARY EFFORT
Major gift solicitation should be undertaken principally by volunteers except
in special cases of involvement by the Chief and Captain. The principal of
voluntary participation in Advance or Major Gifts solicitation applies straight
down the line in the whole campaign. The effectiveness of workers comes as
much from their readiness to commit their own time, energy and money as
form their persuasiveness in selling the Redwood City PAL's case for support.
C. SOLID PROSPECTING
Major gift prospecting is a search for giving potential. Potential is the ability
of a person's capacity to give, not to be confused with propensity, which is
the factor of interest and our ability to cultivate and sell the program.
Currently Redwood City PAL has approximately 200 prospects that were
identified with a significant gift. Experience would indicate that this number
of prospects is inadequate to achieve the gift table as indicated below. Peer
screening and rating will bear this out. The approximate numbers of solid
prospects needed in each of the gift categories are indicated as follows:
10
Redwood City Police Activities League
$4.5 million Capital CamP n
Number of Gifts
Needed
Gift Amount
Total Number of
Prospects Needed
1
$2,000,000.001
$2,000,000.00 (Completed
1
$356,000.00 j
$356,000.00 l Completed
1
$182,050.00
$182,050.00 Completed
3
$100,000.00 I
$300,000.00 j
9
16
I $24,000.00
$384,000.00 I
48
32
$14,400.00 I
$460,800.00
96
45
$7,200.00
$324,000.00
192
82
$3,600.00
$295,200.00
384
100
$1,000.00
i
$100,000.00
300
Small gifts
1
I 1
$100,000.00
1000
281
I
$4,502,050.00
2029
10
