I
I -
II. FINDINGS
A Awareness of the proposad Police Activities League Project and the image of
the PAL as a non - profit youth serving organization. T
The degree of awareness of the PAL project, as currently proposed by the PAL Board of
Directors and Police Department, varied among those who were interviewed for the Study.
A number of people indicated that their knowledge was second hand, with rumors or talks
about the project being the source for what they knew leaving them uncertain about some
of the plans. Several said they were surprised to team of a possible capital campaign.
Others indicated that as they understood the situation, "the City, the School Board, and the
Police were going to pay for the whole thing." All indicated an interest in learning more
about the long -term plans for the Police Activities League. When those interviewed for the
Study were asked to access the image of the PAL organization, over 50% of the
interviewees did not know about the project before hearing about it when the interview was
set up. Thirty -nine percent had heard it and were very supportive of the project. Eleven
percent either had no opinion or was somewhat negative about the project. However, all
indicated that it was important for PAL to market the idea and get some solid information
out to the general public related to project.
® Did not know about the project- before
interview
Heard about the project and very
supportive
No opinion or negative about the
project
3
