I <br />I - <br />II. FINDINGS <br />A Awareness of the proposad Police Activities League Project and the image of <br />the PAL as a non - profit youth serving organization. T <br />The degree of awareness of the PAL project, as currently proposed by the PAL Board of <br />Directors and Police Department, varied among those who were interviewed for the Study. <br />A number of people indicated that their knowledge was second hand, with rumors or talks <br />about the project being the source for what they knew leaving them uncertain about some <br />of the plans. Several said they were surprised to team of a possible capital campaign. <br />Others indicated that as they understood the situation, "the City, the School Board, and the <br />Police were going to pay for the whole thing." All indicated an interest in learning more <br />about the long -term plans for the Police Activities League. When those interviewed for the <br />Study were asked to access the image of the PAL organization, over 50% of the <br />interviewees did not know about the project before hearing about it when the interview was <br />set up. Thirty -nine percent had heard it and were very supportive of the project. Eleven <br />percent either had no opinion or was somewhat negative about the project.
