&A
i-7CM
Image of the PAL in the Community
Relating to the image, 12% of those interviewed really had no k,fowledge of exactly what
PAL was doing in the City. Twenty -five percent had some knowledge of PAL, but not a
great deal. This was true among both the business leaders and civic leaders. One -third
felt that the project was very doable and a positive community influence was exerted by
PAL in a number of areas. The balance were not totally aware, had some knowledge of
PAL, but were surprised to find that it did serve individual young people who were from
various sectors of the community, not just the rough section.
B. Acceptance level for the project and feasibility of the fund - raising goal of $4
million.
A decided majority of those participating in the study said that the proposed capital fund-
raising campaign would be accepted by most of the community leaders and those
government officials who were in support of youth programs. However, even those who
had prior information about the project were somewhat concerned about the fact that only
sketchy information was made available.
Seventy percent of those interviewed said the campaign would be well accepted in the
community. Twenty percent felt that if properly explained, the project would be supported
by the community. Ten percent said they did not know whether or not the PAL project
would be accepted but they felt that, as did many of those who answered positively,
additional information needs to be forthcoming especially explaining the relationship of
PAL to the Police Department.
■ Campaign would be well accepted
If properly explained project would
be supported
MAdditional information needed
before they would feel comfortable
supporting
4
