this reference, shows the location of Redwood City's new Sequoia Station Shopping
Center in relation to the adjacent city streets and PCJPB's main tracks. Since the
shopping center was opened in 1994, there has been an increase in cross-track
pedestrian traffic between the shopping center and the commercial businesses and
civic center located easterly of Winslow Street. The pedestrian traffic consists of
businesspersons, shoppers and commuters using both CalTrain and SamTrans
busses.

Currently, pedestrians walk across open tracks or use an unimproved station
platform crossing located about fifty (50) feet to the north of the shopping center
entrance. The applicant proposes to construct an improved pedestrian crossing closer
to the shopping center entrance using a rubberized crossing material and creating a
pathway using concrete and asphalt which conforms to the regulations of the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Also proposed are two CPUC Standard #10 automatic warning signals which will
be placed as shown in Exhibit "B", attached hereto, and incorporated herein by this
reference. Guide fences will be placed 10 feet from centerline of the nearest main
track to direct pedestrians to the proposed crossing.

The proposed crossing is specially located to conform to future plans
which affect the track structure at Redwood City, as follows:

a) The Jefferson Avenue Grade Separation - The Jefferson Avenue
Underpass project, located approximately 650 feet to the south of the proposed at-
grade pedestrian crossing, will be under construction starting in the fall of 1995. The
existing top of rail elevation of both main tracks will remain unchanged on the future
