8.A. - Page 3 <br /> ■ "Remnant" is a collection of small fragments of land throughout the city. There <br /> are a total of twenty-eight remnant parcels that vary in size from 19 square feet to <br /> 2,500 square feet. In some cases, they function as drainage ditches for a group <br /> of homes or along a roadway. <br /> ■"Other" encompasses a variety of current uses that are not otherwise noted, such <br /> as property used for an electric transmission line, a pedestrian alley, or <br /> pedestrian bridges. <br /> Land Adjacency <br /> Staff searched the County assessor land registry for property within the city limits and <br /> the sphere of influence owned by other public agencies or districts. There are 339 <br /> parcels throughout the city that meet this description; the breakdown is as follows: <br /> ■ Thirty-six federally-owned parcels <br /> ■ Ninety-three state-owned parcels <br /> ■ Fifty county-owned parcels <br /> ■ Twelve transit district-owned parcels (Samtrans or Caltrans) <br /> ■ One hundred five water district-owned parcels <br /> ■ Thirty-nine school district-owned parcels <br /> ■ One fire district-owned parcel <br /> ■ Three other government-owned parcels <br /> The City Owned Property Inventory does not include these parcels. <br /> Land Disposition Recommendations <br /> Recommendations for disposition were based on the current inventory of city-owned <br /> properties and the vision for the City as described in the General Plan and other <br /> adopted documents. <br /> Of the 247 city-owned parcels, approximately 195 parcels were identified as property <br /> that the City should hold in order to suitably operate city facilities, infrastructure <br /> systems, open space, and recreation. This group of property is the Public Facility <br /> category and staff does not recommend disposal of this land at this time. <br /> Nearly 8% of the 247 properties are remnant parcels; awkward, undevelopable <br /> fragments of land from subdivided parcels over time. In this Remnant Parcel category, <br /> many of the properties can be sold to the adjacent property owner with the objective to <br />
