Camino Real. Conceptual drawings for modification of the curb bulb-out at the
northwest corner of Broadway/EI Camino Real.
Task 2— 90 % Design PS&E
a. Review City comments on the preliminary bicycle improvement and curb bulb-out plans.
Review "as-built" drawings provided by the City for the traffic signal at the intersection of
Brewster Avenue and Broadway and the curb bulb-out and traffic signal at the
intersection of Broadway and EI Camino Real.
b. Perform additional field review as needed, including verification of the existing electrical
conduits and electrical pull boxes directly affected by the installation of the new loops,
layout of signing and striping, and surface utilities that may present conflicts for the
project. Potential safety issues of existing conditions will also be reviewed.
c. Prepare 90% design plans for the proposed signing and striping and traffic signal loop
detector installations/modifications based on the preliminary plans developed for the
SMCTA and C/CAG grant application, City review comments on those plans, and
discussions at the kick-off meeting. Plans will be prepared using the AutoCAD software.
Designs will be in accordance with current Caltrans design standards, California MUTCD
guidelines, and the City of Redwood City's design standards.
d. The design for the traffic signal loop detector installations/modifications will show the
new loop detectors and conduit needed for DLC runs to the existing controller cabinet.
e. Assuming a determination with the City in Task 1 that a concept for the curb bulb-out at
Broadway/EI Camino Real is feasible without moving signal poles, our team will prepare
90% Civil design PS&E for modification to the bulb-out. This base scope of work
scenario assumes that signal modification design would not be needed.
f. Prepare 90% cost estimate and specifications, and verify that costs are within the City's
project budget.
g. Meet with City staff to review comments and recommendations.
Deliverables: (Due within twelve weeks of Notice to Proceed)
90% plans, specifications, and cost estimate.
Task 3— 100% Design PS&E
a. Coordinate with City staff regarding review of 90% design documents. If requested by
the City, Consultant shall be available to meet to discuss review comments.
b. Review the 90% design documents and make revisions based on comments from and
discussions with the City.
c. Prepare 100% construction drawings, contract specifications, and a detailed construction
cost estimate.
d. Submit final PS&E package and com pact disk with PS&E electronic files to the City.
e. Provide one set of reproducible plans, signed and sealed by the registered civil
engineer, in accordance with California State Law.
Deliverables: (Due within fourteen weeks of Notice to Proceed)
ATTY/AGR/2012.033/TJKM 11
REV:03-29-12 VR
