Each af <br /> these topic areas are represented in Chapters of the Built Environment Element. These chapters <br /> include 146 pragrarr�s ta implement related goals and palicies, The specific status of each of <br /> these programs is included in Attachment 2, which summarizes Implernentation Program <br /> progress. <br /> Specific Projects Update; The first implementation prograrrt of the Built Environment is to <br /> complete zaning ardinance and zoning map amendments to implement GeneraV Plan policy. <br /> City staff initiated the prncess ta draft amendments as required by the Generaf Plan <br /> immediately following adoptior� af the General Plan. Program BE-1 requires a phased approach <br /> for c�uick irnplementatian to ensure that priority development areas are provided with <br /> imp�ementing zoning expeditiously. The General Pfan prioritized Zoning Ordinance <br /> Amendments for the Mixed �1se - Downtawn Generai Flan land use desigrtation, followed by <br /> the Mixed Use - Corridor General Plan fand use designation and other mixed use land use <br /> designatians. These two land use designations allow far the mast intensive development in the <br /> City, These areas are envisionec� to contribute to a more compact pattern pf development, <br /> allow for more housing, and help encourage us� of alternative forms of transportation. <br /> The �f1�9ixed Use - Downt�wn General Pfan land use designation is implemented through the <br /> recently adopted Downtown Precise Plan [adopted on .lanuary Z�, 2011), �olfawing adaption of <br /> the Downtown Precise Plan, the City then proceeded with the drafting of a Zaning Ordinarrce <br /> Amendment to implement the Mixed lJse - Corridor General Pla� land use designatior�.
