I have se�n the plans far the McGowan nine-lot development, and canclude that it wi]I substantially�egrade the existing rrfsual character and yualtty oF the site and its surroundings, What is impartant aestheticalty abaut my neighbo:•hood is the semi-i-ural character of the north slde of Finger Aven�e,with many homes set far back from tt�e street. The appearance of large amaunts of open space with mature,oid growth trees,providss a striking backdrop ta the homes.The contrast betwe�n the north side of Finger Avenue and its south side,with�Cs many quafnt,early 20nc�entury bungalows and cottages,fs somethrng thak's unique ta Redwoad City and treasured by its resider�ts, Exarnples of how the Finger Avenue Proj�ct signiFcantly degrades the aesthetics oF our neighborhaod are: • Const�-uctian of two hamcs with wic�e two-story facades set back the nlinimum allowable distance from the street.There are na hauses that large set that clase to the street anywhere in our neighborhvad. • Nowhei•e else on Finger Avenue are hames this targe placed on lots this sma)l. • All of the hames ai•e of similar size and all two-story,as op�osed to the max of home sizes and heights that are representative oFthe north side of Finger Avenue, • Most af these nfne t�omes will be viewable fram the public street.There is little apen space and the homes are only set bac3�a smap distance from the narrow alley that serves them (son�e ft•am 3�-- 6Ft from the alleyway.)
