What is important aesthetically abont my neighborhood is the seini-ruraI character of the north side of Finger Avenue,with maz�y homes set far back from the street.The appeat�aiice of large amounts of open space wi#i�mature, oid growth trees, pro�rides a striking backdrop to the homes,Ti�e contrask between the north side of Finger Avenue and its south side,with its rnany quaint, early 20;h centu,ry bungalows and cottages, is svmetl�ing that's uniyue to Redwood City and treasui�ed by its residents. � Examgies of�ow ti�e Finger Avenue Project significantly degrades the aes#hetics of our neighboi•hood a�•e; • Construction of fwo homes with wide two-stvey facad�s set back the minimun� allowable distance from the street.There are no houses tl�at large set khat clase to the street anywhere in our neigliborhood. " • Nowhere else on Finger A�enue are homes tliis large plaoed on ]Qts this small. • All of the lYOines are of similar size and all two-sto�y, as opposec� to tlie mix of home sizes and heights tliat are representatiVe o#'the r�oi�th side of Fiager Avenue. • Most of tll�se nine homes will be viewab�e from the public sti�eet.There is little apen space ana khs hames are only set back a small distance fi•om the nac•row that serves then� (some fiom 3ft--6ft from the alleyway.) Nowherc in our neighbor�ood a�•e houses situated in this fashion. • A aevelopment tliis densely packed is incampatib�e with the presence of large matus�e crees on the site, The eventuaI loss of these trees will be irreversi�le. • The breakup of the north side of Finger Ave. by creating two new intersections.The nan•ow alleyway built for the devefopment fails to integrate with Finger Avenue by not having a sidewalk or planting strip against the roadway. • The ane-way alleyway will require sEreet signs on Finger A.ve to direct traffic, further compiomising the character ofthe north side ofthe street.
