6.1.E. - Page 20
Hoo..
Community school programs reached 71% of students at Hoover in 2010-11. As Exhibit 8a shows, about
35% of Hoover students accessed extended learning opportunities in 2010-11. These students averaged
nearly 90 days of participation and included 74% English learner and 89%FRPL participants. Nearly
one quarter of Hoover students had parents participate in family engagement programs. Parent events
had the highest rate of participation at 14%,but parent education programs had the most average days
of participation at 10. Students with parents in family engagement programs tended to have higher
prior CST proficiency rates than students in other program categories. Support programs served 55% of
Hoover students, 75% of whom were English learners and 83%of whom received FRI'L. Students
whose families received support had the lowest CST proficiency rates compared to participants in any
other strategy area. Students with no program participation were less likely to participate in FRPL and
had higher CST proficiency rates in 2009-10 than participants in most program categories.
Exhibit 8a: Program Participation and Participant Characteristics at Hoover,2010-11
Participation Participant Characteristics
ELA Math
% Avg Free/Red.
